I‘m very happy to share my new album ‘Bones’ with you. It‘s out today via Seil Records, available on cassette in digitally.
‘Bones’ was made with a rather minimal setup of Digitakt 2, MS20 and Cocoquantus. I used the Digitakt mainly as an enhanced looping device for phrases and drones I made with the other two instruments. So I would just play either the MS20 straight into the Digitakt, or loop it in the Coco first and then sample it.
Then adding modulation, changing pitches, filtering etc. But there is very minimal sequencing going on, it’s mostly just loop looping.
To me, that’s an incredibly freeing workflow that is all about staying in the moment and moving forward. Just following the sounds, piecing them together layer by layer and then improvising an arrangement with the Digitakt and recording it straight to 1/4" tape.
There are some additional effects used but these three devices were the core of everything.
