My final Jamuary track (Finished yesterday honest!)

The theme music to the imaginary 80’s cop show “Hover Cop” a hard bitten detective solves crime and upholds justice using his high tech hovercraft.

The track is heavily based on the Air Wolf theme along with an influence by the song Runaway by Dakota which features as the theme song to a Danny MacAskill video and Phil Colins and other songs of the 80’s which feature a pedal bass.

In terms of composition the track is making heavy use of a pedaled A around which the other instruments vamp. The main bit of interest is the end of the B section which uses a “Neopolitan” chord to create the overblown dramatic transition into the solo.

In terms of production it was made in Bitwig. All synths are Synapse Audio Obsession which is a brilliant Oberheim emulator. Guitars are all via Neural Rabea which I used for the first time and I’m very impressed with.

This was the last track I was able to finish on January 31st. It’s entirely made on the Dirtywave M8 Tracker. Enjoy! Glad I got to participate and made it to 14 total tracks. I’m actually happy with my output as it was a very busy January for me. Great work from everybody here!!!Until next year fellow Elektronauts.

I’ve been putting off posting this but here’s my final Jamuary. I wanted to end the month with a cover and this was the only one that came out halfway decent. Anyway, a song for the end of 2025 and the start of new things.

Jamuary the 31st—Ghosts Again (Again)
Digitakt; Rondo/Agile hollowbody acoustic-electric guitar (unplugged); voice; Electro-Voice RE20

(Please someone post something after this so mine isn’t the last post in the thread.)

this is great! your voice works really well with this tune and feels truly invested in the song. i havent heard the original but i am noticing some similarities to old Baths vocals in your harmonies. awesome way to close out the month

It’s been a few days since jamuary ended and I still didn’t get enough sleep. I plan to go back and check out more jams, but I managed to listen to at least a few on most days and there is a lot to like. Respect to everybody that participated, listened, liked, commented (special big up to @tovia for next level commentary, all while doing great jams too).

I love that jamuary has no serious rules, except trying to make as much jams as possible. I probably wouldn’t participate otherwise. So for myself I made a few “rules” of my own:

  • every jam from a blank slate, no reusing existing patterns which I already have
  • record a video of each jam
  • try different setup configurations, music styles and approaches to producing and hopefully learn something from it
  • use as much of my gear as I could at least once
  • work on music every day, even if I know I won’t be able to complete it that day
  • no (or minimal) sacrificing other activities, which are important to me
  • sacrificing as much time waster activities as possible

And here’s a few observations:

  • It’s possible to make time for making music, even if it seems I’m constantly busy
  • it’s better to not overthink stuff and just go with the feeling
  • it’s important to be able to commit - music is never perfect anyway
  • gear limitations don’t matter much when you’re in the creative flow (they actually help to get there)
  • I have everything I need to make music I want
  • GAS is a huge time (and obviously money) waster
  • I’m not selling a few things that I was about to sell, because they are really cool, I just couldn’t be arsed to take time for them
  • I’m not buying a bunch of things that I’m gassing for, because I don’t need them

I managed to do much more jams that I hoped for, often at the expense of some night’s sleep, but it was worth it (and it helped to know I can sleep when a month is over). All in all - a really great experience and I hope I’ll be able to participate next year again.

Made a sort of wrap-up video about how Jamuary went for me and reflecting on some of the work I made that I’m particularly proud of (or was interesting). I feel like I grew a lot in the last month, and really pushed myself into some new and uncomfortable areas, which is exactly what I was hoping to do.

I joined the forum fairly recently, but I just want to say that I’m really glad to be a part of this community. People have been so supportive and encouraging, and y’all are so freaking good at making music! It’s inspiring how many people were putting out really interesting, thought out, extremely cool music on a daily basis.

Thanks for a great Jamuary - can’t wait to do it next year

Made an album out of my favorite tracks! Not sure what to do with myself this month. Already shuffled my modular case and totally feel lost  it was a blast though!! Thanks all for the listens and camaraderie, felt a little less cold and lonely over here.

Never did a full count but it looks like I made it to 29 finished tracks. There were a few that just weren’t working or I wasn’t fully happy with, but I’m pretty happy with all of these.

Bandcamp is still only letting you make playlists through the app which is frustrating. Here’s my full Jamuary playlist: Jamuary Anubis Rude - Playlist by Ingrown Records | Bandcamp
