Jamuary 2026

Some koala sampler stuff I made during a work zoom meeting. Nothing fancy, but I like the way the bass stuff turned out.

This wasn’t my day but oh well, the good thing about this is that tomorrow will be something different.

That beat is really cool!
Very beautiful mood too.

Day 20:
Some minibrute sounds, and a blofeld arp which is basically the piano part of "New York, I love you but you’re bringing me down’
A verse from a friend. Recorded at a different tempo, i just pitched it -1 and rolled with it

I really like this!!

Day 20: left all of the sequencing responsibilities to my partner so I could just play some bass (probably too much bass)

Didn’t have much time or energy again last night, so made a dumb little ambient loopy thingy

Falling behind a bit here. I keep building out songs that end up being more complicated that I intended. Anyway brother, here’s van der Waals.

“Composed” and recorded very quickly, in order to post on the day itself after a very long day at work.
A single Syntakt track benefitting from Tonverk effects and MIDI macro modulation.

Too loud again, but who has time to fix such things.

took a hiatus because i had another music-related deadline i had to complete, so i offer two 'jamuary’s for one. one (london) is a remix of a friends track, and the other one is a quick improvisation i made, similar to my usual jamuarys

Had to bang out a quick one between a long day, evening plans, and a nasty headache. This time I let the Subharmonicon resequence itself, with one sequencer modulating the other. With a little coaxing, it spat out a horror theme I’m not ashamed of. The Mother-32 is providing ramped cymbal rushes behind the main sequence, and also using its LFO to PWM the shit out of the Subharmonicon.

Just cause I have 8 tracks on the R8, doesn’t mean I have to use them…

This is my least musical addition to Jamuary by far and it bothers me a lot more than it probably should. I learned a ton here, but I didn’t have time to turn it into anything that I’d actually want to listen to.

Here’s what I programmed into this synth though

  • LFO to control the pitch
  • Encoder 1 controls LFO depth
  • Encoder 2 controls LFO rate
  • Encoder 3 controls overall tempo
  • Switch on creates a 10% chance to generate a ratchet effect
  • Ratchet also increases rate and depth of LFO
  • Ratchet stays in line with tempo (this took me a while!)

Also learned how to make a synth using an Osc, VCA, and ADSR on the ZOIA.

It may not sound that fancy when you listen to it, but it took me a few hours and around 150 lines of code. I’m continuing to learn how all the different pieces work together and I’m excited to keep exploring the possibilities here. Even with just three knobs and a switch, there’s a lot going on. Thinking about the possibilities with more controls is intimidating and exciting!

Trying to make up for lost time, so I made a bit of a suite from patterns left over from the MF DOOM/Aphex Twin/808s Battle last year.

Don’t worry, @tovia , I don’t expect you to listen to all 3 in one day.
