Edit:
Only now I realized that I misread the title of the thread:
It’s about “jamuary”, not about January 2020 plans.
Sorry!

Funny, I just caught this post from the AB forum as well, had to double check to see if it was you on both and indeed it is.

Edit, great read btw. Thanks for that.

I was considering doing all VCV rack with Ableton. I just downloaded Orca’s heart and it’s really a pleasure to work with. Interesting things happen pretty quickly.

Absolute awesomeness right here. For me, this is the equivalent of a word on the tip of my tongue but I just can’t remember it and then someone says it.

I’m all over this like a moth to a neon light.

I just hope I don’t suffer the same fate as said moth. LOL

I needed that. Especially after telling myself , “no more new gear this year!” We all need a depth year

I think the theme is very fitting for Jamuary.

Instead of 31 jams with 31 synths, just stick to one synth the whole month.

Hell - efm cowbell only for 31 jams

Do you set/have any spesific goals for jamuary? Something like tackling a new genre, working on transitions, minimalizing/maximalizing parts, something music theory or production related stuff… or is it just about freeform jamming and enjoying what you already can do?

(New to this stuff)

Movement, Acceptance, and Perseverance.

Hopefully the universe does the rest.

Oh goodness me. Some deep questions. Others may have a different view from me but I’ve always pictured a jam as being free.

You want to challenge yourself to a new genre. Go ahead.
(Mine would be shoegaze stuff)
You want to try new equipment. Go right on ahead!
(I want to experiment with modular so VCF Rack would be perfect)
You want to do spoken word poetry then do it.
Whatever makes you happy.

Music is a form of self expression. A jam is a way of playing with ideas.

So basically, and I’m not any authority, but it’s free. Just go for it!
I found myself creating stuff, making decisions, and finishing the session with something to show… good or bad. That outcome has always been productive.
