From my own observations there is more security on the new website but I am not going to disclose specifics publicly. I think it’s been a great and needed change. Product registration is also not required for opening support cases.
Having done similar kind of data moves myself, I know this is a frustrating move because it will not be instant, but it is obviously necessary and will be of greater benefit in the long run. The easy kind of migrations are not always indicative of good ones.
Only issue for me is wanting to DL the presets from the OG Tone/ Tone Keys to play with on my Tone 2. Think the only way to access them is through the product registration area? I will probably hit up support and see what’s up.
Same here. I can’t see any registered devices in my account, nor could I register an Analog Rytm MKII ten minutes ago. I’ve sent a message to Elektron support. I suppose it doesn’t really matter (as outlined above) but good to see all my ‘trophies’ in the one place
I got this reply off Elektron. It’s nothing new to what’s been said, but it’s from the horses mouth so-to-speak - so all good.
“We recently migrated our website, and product registration on your account isn’t available yet, but we’ll be adding this functionality soon. Rest assured, any previously registered products are still recorded in the background—they just aren’t visible on the site yet. Note that registration is mainly for your own convenience. Even without registration, you can still request repairs and receive product support.“
Good to hear, from the user level, I can only imagine the decay of their web stack and requiring someone else apply updates to Elektronauts and Elektron.se from the prior host scenario had to pause while they wrapped up the migration. At least with that stable on whatever new platform the rest can be accomplished more easily.
usercare@elektron.se is another email address that should work to contact support if you need a repair. I would not email them about specifically registration if that’s your only issue as i just bogs down the queue. It can some times take them a few days to get back to you (and with the holidays could take a bit longer). Whether registered or not, that 3 year warranty is good. I’ve had them assist with registered, non registered, and out of warranty machines over the last 15 years of having Elektron stuff and they’ve always taken care of me.
Since the revamped website went up (when you had to make a ‘new’ account), so a while now. It’s not possible to view your already registered devices either.
Pfff same for me. I would like to download the octatrak factory data because I accidently deleted stuff while learning this machine. Then you get the message you have to register first. I tought I had to wait a week or so max but I see this is going on for months now. For such a big company , I am very dissapointed in that. Buy a 1500€ machine and cant get the data for it because you MUST register… Luckily I could download the soundpack for my syntakt without registring. I have send a ticket to support. Does anyone had this too ?? And how long did it take to fix ??
Yeah, if you look at it this way for a solution. Imagine every company does this with all your expensive purchases. You’re screwed and been giving faulty info by the manufacturors and you just say “Thank you” and move on ?? For real ???
If they have suggested you should create a ticket before contacting them and you cannot create a ticket, contacting them is the next step.
I agree that this is not the ideal state of operation, but it is the reasonable option.
When I am presented with secondary options to resolve my issues, I take them.
I understand the need to complain and I would not knock that, but ultimately options are options. I spent way too long supporting technologies using awkward ticket management systems to worry so long as I can speak to humans.
A separate problem is getting ahold of humans, but if we’re not even to that point I’m not going to lose my top.
Right, everyone understands the frustration, but at least there is a remedy.
Hola here!
Just got Analog Four and Analog Rytm both mk1 and both second hand. I need registration - so I can hopefully order spare displays then (both display have some bleedings). In my acoount in Registered Products it says “We are currently working on updating our registry. Please check back shortly.” So I can’t register now. Support says “product registration on your account isn’t available yet”
For how long is this state? Just afraid its here for weeks or moinths already?
Nobody knows. For now you can still ask Elektron about servicing or buying replacement parts whether you have your devices registered or not, you may as well formalise the notification by giving them the serials if you wish (although presumably they’ll not be under warranty) so you can refer back to this. Patience is a requisite part of this ownership game i’m afraid …
