Issues to upgrade Octatrack via C6

Hey, Octa-wo-men,
I received my OT tonight with 1.25B. Wanted to upgrade to 1.25D, did everything required in the download pdf :

[ul]
[li]Hold down the [FUNCTION] button while powering on. This should take you to the Octatrack
boot menu. [/li]
[li]Enter the MIDI UPGRADE mode by pressing the [TRIG 3] key. [/li]
[li]Send the SYSEX firmware file to the Octatrack.

But the octatrack does not appears in the midi preference window of C6, as my Analog Rytm do. And the send fails : no trig button lit, and at the end of “send” process, Octatrack screen still wait for sysex send, and never reboot by itself.

Any badass idea ?

Not 100% sure about this but I don’t think the Octatrack can be updated over USB MIDI, you need to connect it to your computer via a MIDI DIN interface, and send via that.

There is an alternative method though - see the top of page 31 in the manual:

OS UPGRADE is an alternative to the EARLY STARTUP menu method of OS upgrading. When upgrading the OS in this way an Octatrack OS file, with the file extension .bin, needs to be placed in the root of the Compact Flash card. Select OS UPGRADE and press [ENTER/YES]. A prompt will appear asking if you want to continue with the OS upgrade. Press [ENTER/YES] to upgrade the OS. Press [EXIT/NO] to cancel the operation.

There is no usb midi on OT as said, I prefer the .bin onto the card route as it’s not reliant on transmitting info which could (unlikely) get lost. The binary file is helpfully deleted by system too, very fast upgrade

Thank you guys.
Quite strange 1.25D download pdf saying you can do it by C6…

You can do it by C6. I did! It does it over the midi connections. So if you have the OT midi’d up to a USB MIDI interface you can send the update through thataway. It takes longer than just sticking it on the CF card and going down the regular route.

The OT didnt show in C6 but, from memory, I selected my interface within C6. Not 100% on that mind you.
