Issue with Elektron Analog Rytm mk1

Apologies if this is a noob question or an easy fix but I am new to elektron Rytm MK1 and cant seem to work out the issue.

The issue is as follows:

  • Sample sounds playing when i select sequence buttons 1-12 but not playing any sound when i hit the individual pads.

  • This also means I cant program a sequence because the sequencer buttons 1-12 are only playing sample hits rather then allowing me to program a pattern.

  • Its worth noting that that the drum pads do seem to be working as I can still select them individually when i hold function or go into chromatic mode etc but they will not play a hit and seems the routing is coming via the sequence buttons. Also I have checked that volumes are up on each voice so it is not that.

I bought this rytm from a previous owner so hoping this is a wrong setting rather then a fault. Please help if you can :slight_smile:

Welcome!

Seems like the pads are not sending midi data internally.

Go to GLOBAL MENU > MIDI CONFIG > PORT CONFIG and set PAD DEST to INT + EXT or INT.

Yes starting from scratch is the best option to avoid confusions.

Thankyou for getting back to me i have just checked and it was set to int + ext already still no luck

Thanks for getting back to me I have already done a factory reset yesterday and was still not working, Ive noticed that pads: CP4 BT5 CY11 CB12 all play very faintly but seems I have to put alot of pressure on the pads none of the others seem to play at all.

It´s possible to check the pads in test mode (also hold func when start). They should glow from blue to orange, depending on the amount of pressure.

Are there any possibilities to get the money back (e.g. paypal buyer protection) ?

Have you tried a new project? It seems strange, since the pads are working in the other modes…

Just done this and it looks like the pads are only going to blue except for 2 of the them which go slightly orange with more pressure. Could this be an issue with the pads?

Seriously, have you tried loading a fresh new project?

If you hit rec, the sequencer buttons will (should) let you put steps into the sequencer. even if the pads do not work

Seems like there is some dirt/dust under the pads which make them unresponsive. I would contact the elektron support, they will help you and can provide more information. Maybe they can give you
instructions to open the AR and clean the contact.

If you go to SOUND MENU > SOUND SETTINGS and set VELOCITY TO VOL to OFF the velocity of the pads won´t affect the volume. This would be another option.

I think the pads are more sensitive in these modes.

Finally managed to get the pads working after switching volume - velocity off.

I think you are right about the pads it seems to be a sensitivity issue I have got in touch with elektron about this.
