Here’s the setup: I’ve got a drum beat coming into the Octatrack (in studio mode) from the Monomachine on inputs A/B, and some vocal bits from the MPC on inputs C/D. What I would like is to only have the inputs play through their corresponding outputs-that is, inputs A/B only can be heard through outputs A/B, inputs C/D only heard through outputs C/D. I’m away from my machines now, but it does not appear that this is possible. Am I missing something?
I can’t test right now, but I think you can just use two Thru tracks with their levels for the two outputs set appropriately.
Yeah, you need to switch your octatrack to studio mode, and then you can assign one of those thru machine outs to the cue left and right.
Now that I’m back with my gear:
First, I should have mentioned that I have a Thru for each pair of inputs, gain turned up/down accordingly for the respective inputs, as well as volume set accordingly for the tracks in studio mode (A/B to main, C/D to cue). What I am finding is that the incoming audio from C/D is still sent to the main outputs, and does not appear to be isolated to only the cue outs. Incoming audio from A/B does not pass to C/D unless setup that way, FWIW.
The other thing I’ve realized is that even with track 8 as master, audio being sent to the cue out in studio mode is not affected by using the Delay Control, which is no good for what I am trying to accomplish.
I’m hoping my lack of desired results is due to user error, but I do know the OT pretty well and am afraid this might just be how it is.
So what happens if you now set DIR for both AB and CD to 0?
