Isn't the Digitone II the most incredible and deep instrument from Elektron so far?

I HAVE POSTS TO READ THROUGH THOUGH okay okay that will be todays project when my baby takes naps

I’ve actually used it a number of times just never saved a template because I am in fact… very stupid

Maaaaan I’ve got to sell some stuff or something, I’ve been saving for a DNII since it came out but family summer vacation times have decimated the musical instrument fund. Someday…

I find that simple analog monos that don’t require much attention pair well with it. Simple to use WYSIWYG synths with many knobs. They also have different enough sound to justify having them. I currently have: cobalt8m, pro-800, td-3-mo, Kobol, Neutron and while I rarely use all of them in a track they are cool to have and not too expensive (paid as much as the DN for them all combined). I won’t be adding anything with a sequencer though. Many of them don’t offer even midi CC capabilities but some of them do, and it’s cool to modulate them using the DN.

It sure is overkill owning 3 polys and 3 monos, I know. But it’s fun and I’m able to operate them all from my playing position. If I could only have one additional synth, I would probably keep the Neutron.

it is 100% my dream elektron instrument

i still cant believe they released this out of nowhere. the syntakt into the dt2 into the dn2 was crazy. but the dn2 has pretty much everything ive ever wanted in an elektron synth

the fact that they gave us 16 tracks, for any elektron synth is wild but for a polyphonic synth with the depth and beauty of the dn2 is incredible. the multi-layer options for the synthesis machines, the enhanced (og dn) fm tone machine, the routing options, the drum synthesis, the va synthesis, the filters, the new effects section, the new sequencer features making it the most versatile and complex elektron sequencer yet. also the chord mode rules

and 16 tracks of 16 note midi polyphony is huge for me. the digitone has always been the brain of my dawless setup, but they made it perfect with this one. i control every synth i own from the dn2 and its perfect

I can only agree 100%, this thing is incredible. Is it also the most generous Elektron instrument yet?

I don’t know, my A4mk1 usually stands the first round

I see a lot of mentions of people upgrading their Digitone to the 2, but did anyone keep their original to be sequenced by the new one? I picked up the OG in the Spring, and it’s been a lot of fun. Maybe because I bought it used, but I can see them complimenting each other very well, and being able to stay focused on really learning the FM engine as a primary synth would be a plus.

Dub Chord thread?

…I tried to find it.

I believe it is the “best synth for dub chords” thread. But there was also a different one which I can’t find or remember the name of right now. Maybe it was just a dream

Do you think DN2 would work well for new age/ambient like 80s Mark Isham or Hiroshi Yoshimura?
Isham used a PPG rack setup for Vapor Drawings.
Yoshimura apparently used a lot of DX7.

I’m looking for something multi-timbral where I can do a bunch of layers of slowly evolving arps, wonder if DN2 is my best bet.

Please please share some patch notes for this and your DFAM-esque sounds! Trying to kill my GAS for a Labyrinth and or a Body Synths Metal Fetishist:)))

Love the cheeky LFO cover.

I might do an Tutorial!

Digitone II = DFAM + Labyrinth + 606 Hihat (three Tracks)

Digitone II = Metal Fetishist (one Track)

(although DNII can do better than Metal Fetishist who hasn’t even Metal inside, just white noise (which I replicated here and it sounds as bad). whyyyyyyyyyy)

Story of my life … Although I did sell A4 and AR and bought them back to finish stuff that I still haven’t finished and then sold them .

That is, of course, because you already had the Tonverk for all of 2025 .

I actually wrote “synthesizer” to discreetly exclude TV :stuck_out_tongue:

Well, none of us would have known at the time of your post . With your complete DN II obsession though, would you have gotten a Tonverk day 1 if Elektron didn’t send you one early?
