Isn't the Analog Four the most incredible and deep instrument from Elektron so far?

AR/A4 MkI had a very bad screen. Even the red eye-burning MD’s screen is a lil bit better.

Not sure screen is the main consideration.
Once ergonomy understood, the screen just there to confirm the level of the programmations.

The main concern, imho, are audio out on mk2.
I work with mk1 since years, and the only thing that makes me wanting a mkii are the individual outs.
Now, if you consider the A4 as a one mono synth made of 4 possible timbers, go for mki, you won’t regret you investment since the low prices and the fact that you will always find a buyer limit the risk loosing too much money if not loving A4.
This synth will get value once no more will be produced, that’s sure. So powerfull

Edit : my favorit things

  • neighbour oscillator
  • feedback oscillator
  • external oscillator

My mki is a one big mono sounding unit.
Nice for

  • noise
  • techno
  • glitch
  • drones / ambiant

Get one :+1:

Edit2

  • very clever for a little modular case

Or a Make Noise semi-modular :kissing_smiling_eyes:

I have the A4MK2 currently CV-ed up with my O-Coast, and it’s definitely like having a little semi-modular system. :ok_hand:

My grey a4 has a new friend, a mint green pulsar 23. Feels like a destiny

I’m sure you will love P23. These two are great combo.

So just today I pulled out the A4 and decided to setup the keystep to control it via the digitakt. On the keystep, I found that I can play more than 4 notes on the A4. Is this right? if so how much polyphony is the A4?

Edit: or maybe i’m just hearing move voices but its actually just doing the voice stealing?

Always 4 voices brother, probably just hearing the voice stealing masking the note going missing!

As a sound can have 2 oscillators + 2 subs + filter resonance you can fake it so that you hear more than 4 notes. But 4 voices tops it is.

You could technically squeeze out another note or two with the keytracking resonant filters, but it’s probably not viable =P

Edit: you already wrote that, oops. Merry Christmas

Actually you could get an extra one using CV out back into audio in and using it as a percussion for instance ^^

I agree. I’ve done as much sound design with my Ak as anyone - I erased the +Drive first thing when I powered up. I’ve made at least 500 patches.

Not once have I felt “that’s Moogy” “that’s Roland” not ONCE!

It will do any sort of synth sound and lots I’ve never heard elsewhere, but the A4 is always entirely itself. Use it for that or you’ll probably find yourself frustrated.

So far I only have Digitone as an only Elektron synth. I am eyeing too much at A4 MK2 lately which is a problem for my GAS and wallet but I can’t help myself. I like it’s sound a lot. Maybe I’ll buy it next year instead of Syntakt which I had in my eyes for a very long time.

Loving this. Seriously considering selling a few bits off to get an A4 again. Would like to try this sort of thing with a bass guitar together.

Thank you, Bruce! :slightly_smiling_face:

Go get it! May need some dedication at first but to me it’s been a very rewarding journey so far.
