Really crazy how cheap even a secondhand MK2 is right now. New they cost 1600€, but you can get them secondhand for 700-800€. Actually nuts, and I’m not sure what’s up with that as most secondhand synths that are not discontinued are sold at like ~75% of the price of a new one.
saw a legit one selling for 550 few days ago
if I had the money at that moment, I would get it. seems like those unicorn deals
zhe only thing that detters me from mkI is the screen.
I feel like I would squint 90% of the time
It’s actually totally fine - not quite as nice as the MKII screens for sure but as long as it’s in good condition they’re nice and clear.
really? I don’t think even about the clarity, was thinking more about the size itself, but now I’m reading the are actually the same size…
Can the ‘keyboard’ be used to input chords when using the A4 polyphonically?
Yes indeed.
If rumours are to be believed the A4 yields the best results with some deeper attention to sound design. That’s cool, I like sound design, but I don’t love it on little screens and twiddly encoders. Tweaking a patch? Yes. Doing some serious programming? Not so much.
Is Overbridge for Analog Four nice to use? Does it cover everything inside the box? Is it immediate/responsive?
Yes it is ![]()
And yes it is responsive, really high quality IMO.
Excellent. Thank you for your two recent replies. The GAS doth grow. You are the A4 GAS grower.
Did you check the user manual already? That would deff take the GAS at speed of light, as it contains dome gold possible setups the A4 can be used as ![]()
Nice
I do use my ears.
It’s not the pretty graphics, and not the actual values of anything, it’s the where everything is and not interrupting flow to find it. Though sure, muscle memory gets you part of the way there.
I prefer knob per function interfaces over buried menus hence for my preferred workflow a virtual representation whilst not ideal is preferable to 8 encoders and menu diving. At least for deeper work. For performance the compromise is fine.
It shames me to admit this, but I thought the A4mk1’s Display was grubby, dirty, and a little bit unclear because it was old. I had bought it 2nd Hand, so no biggie and accepted the Fact that it is the Way it is. I’ve just noticed that the Screen Protector was stil on. Underneath waited a pristine and crystal clear Display. All the grubbyness was on that little Plastic Film. Now it feels like a new Machine. And I could swear it got a little brighter around 3.5kHz.
I actually had the same experience with my OTmk1, it was in storage for awhile and I pulled it out recently to clean it and was bummed by how gunky the screen was. Turned out I never pulled off the film, and now it looks brand new!
This thread needs more love. Let’s hear your incredible sounds!
A4 solo quickjam.
Something else.

not all glorious, but … more else
Drums = Analog 4?
that’s wonderful, the A4 never ceases to amaze me. I’m thinking about getting an MK2 for the individual outs and keeping the MK1 for pads.
