My main use case is for it to act as the tape recorder and pre-DAW arrangement sampler.
Basically what the modern MPCs fail at.
The sonics will be the added bonus. And of course, having more fun than attempting it with a Push.
Ya, pretty much the same, at least for most of the parts that won’t have direct, live evolving pieces. It’s both for solo arranging when I don’t want to use the computer and just make a full track within it or an adjunct sampler when I want to track into Live.
It’s a happy medium between the MPC and Octatrack and can get me to where I want pretty fast.

I thought it is possible to choose between classic and “hifi” envelope, isn’t it?
And for the AHDSHR it is shouldn’t be that difficult to NOT dial in any Hold value if not needed or am i wrong here?

I was playing around with my Roland W-30 the other day and was surprised that it had 8-stage envelopes. So, that means the S-550 and S-330 also do, since they’re the same engine. Kind of interesting how it works: you select one of the eight points as sustain, and select one of the eight points as the “end” - or final point - so you don’t have to use all eight points. It’s very easy to just use like three of them and ignore the rest.

I really like the classic envelope, very simple and effective, I wish it didn’t have the ‘8 bit release’ which makes bass frequencies sound gritty, or at least I’d like to be able to turn it off.
You’re right about ignoring some of the hi-fi envelope parameters, that works. However in general I feel like the ENV page is not a great bit of UI design and could do with a tweak!

I found one in Cologne, but the buyer won’t post an image and stopped communicating with me (presuming because I’m not a native German speaker; suspicious of me being a scammer(?).
