Isla S2400

Kinda felt like this was coming as well. Sad for the people involved, hope they end up in a better place.

The s2400 is my favorite sounding sampler ever so I’m glad I have one. It works very well as is, even though it does kind of hurt that all those annoying little bugs will probably be there forever now

This is good news for people with s2400

Seems like maybe there’s a legal reason they have to close the name? Sounds like he’s still operating his business just going to have to do it under a different name.

Maybe he had to declare bankruptcy, and he closed down the Isla name for protections?

The YouTube channel now says Isla Electronics (instead of isla instruments).

I wonder if it’s just that maybe one of the people working with him is leaving and he as a co owner of the company? Not sure how his company structure operates.

It would be cool if there was transparency especially considering people have preorder money with that company.

Facebook and Instagram have been changed too.

I know he’s a small operation (now one man presumably) but posting a ‘we have ceased operations’ notice and then replying briefly to a user’s forum post, rather than create a proper explanatory post, isn’t exactly the ideal way to do it in my opinion. Just causes confusion, as you can see here and on other forums.

I honestly adore the S2400. Feels great, sounds brilliant. It went a long way to making up for the train wreck that was the Kordbot launch.

I don’t think this is the end by any means.

i think its just really bad communication. not sure if he even realizes that this leaves people confused.

we’ll see. im sure at some point he will inform with whats going on.

my guess is that he may had to declare bankruptcy or moved his business to the uk because of taxes or whatever bs thats going on overseas. i think he will continue with the s2400 and the caladan project.

Yeah, agree that “corporate restructuring” of some kind is the most likely explanation here and also that there may be reasons for not giving more information at the moment if this is in fact the context.

There have been ongoing updates on Caladan via YouTube and he had said previously that an S2400 update is (somewhere) in the works.

If this is this case which seems likely he should of found a better way of wording the announcement on the website

This is what I mean about it being an annoying company, the communication is complete dog shit for something that people have invested thousands of dollars into in pre-orders.

I’ve also lost patience with companies because of communication issues during my decades (often because it was too much for 1 person to run the whole bussiness) but still i hope for ISLA that they find a solution/investor/partner/new owner to continue the 2400 and the Caladan. Both products would deserve it and it hurts to see mediocre or “mass-borrowed” crap selling like hot bretzels while good products are getting under the bus.

Exactly. If, as seems possible, he is shutting down the USA company and opening a UK company under a different name while continuing to bring the Caladan to market and support the 2400, then having wild rumours spreading that ‘Caladan tanked the company’ ‘people who pre-ordered are out of pocket’ etc - is damaging. For manufacturers/businesses, reputation is everything - a clearly worded official statement put out asap woukd bring some clarity.

For the record I have a S2400 and it’s great! I hope to see it supported into the future and would happily pay for an update/bug fix (not that there are many as far as i can tell).

Indeed. Brad now needs to publicly demonstrate his commitment to bringing the Caladan to those who pre-ordered, and thank people for their support. I don’t think I’m alone when I say the S2400 project went a long way to instilling faith in the Isla brand, Brad needs to see the Caladan project through to completion and provide firmware updates for bug fixes and the like. I believe in his passion and wish everyone involved the very best. And who knows, maybe one day I’ll get to shake his hand if he’s moved to the UK.

He’s put out 5 caladan progress updates in the past 3 weeks fwiw.

Funny enough, as someone who had a lengthy wait for a preorder S2400 including a couple of months sitting on a boat from China I’ve thought their (his) communications were pretty good. Although insta/youtube rather than lawyer reviewed corporate statements.

I love the s2400, though I’m not crazy about the dsp card since using it is highly involved and also pretty unstable (zipper artifacts when adjusting plugins?). I just wanted an sp1200 with more time and a hifi mode, and maybe compressor and delay/reverb. Great box otherwise though. Caladan looks really sweet. Glad Isla is living on in the UK. I’m waiting on an email from Puesa, still might sell my S2400 to fund MKSRec1 since my space and mental energy is limited.

they are alive according due their forum:

No, Isla Instruments has not ceased trading, but the company has recently undergone a major transition.

As of early 2026, the company is still active, though it has effectively “reset” its operations. Here is the current breakdown of their status:

1. Relocation and Restructuring

The founder, Brad Holland, recently relocated the business from the USA back to the UK. During this move, the original U.S.-based LLC was dissolved for tax and logistical reasons. The brand is now operating under a new structure (sometimes referred to in community circles as “Isla Electronics”) to better suit its new UK-based operations.

2. Product Status

S2400: While the S2400 sampler was briefly listed as out of stock or “discontinued” at some retailers during the move, a new production run of 250 unitsis scheduled for 2026. Firmware updates and bug fixes for the S2400 are also still being actively developed.

Caladan: Development of the Caladan (Isla’s hybrid multitimbral synth) is ongoing. Brad Holland has taken over the UI development personally to ensure the project reaches completion after some delays with external developers.

Side Projects: To focus entirely on instrument manufacturing, Isla closed its secondary venture, the GearTrader marketplace, in late 2025.

3. Support and Availability

Website: The official website and user forums remain online.

Support: You can still open support tickets through their site, though response times may vary as the team settles into their new UK facility.

Inventory: New units are currently scarce as they transition between production runs, so you will mostly find them on the used market (like Reverb) until the 2026 batch ships.

In short: they are very much alive, just smaller, leaner, and currently “in-between” major production batches while they rebuild in the UK.

As of March 2026, the retail landscape for the Isla Instruments S2400 is quite limited because the company is in the middle of a major structural transition.

Here is the current availability status across major channels:

1. Official Isla Instruments Store

Status: Temporarily Closed / Out of Stock

Details: The official store currently shows the S2400 as “Sold Out.” Brad Holland (the founder) recently posted that the U.S.-based LLC has been dissolved as part of the move to the UK. While he has confirmed that a new batch of 250 units is planned for 2026, the official “Isla Electronics” (the new UK entity) shop is not yet fully open for new orders.

Note on the “Ceased Trading” Rumors: You may see posts on forums (like Reddit or the Isla forums) from early March 2026 saying “Isla is gone.” This refers specifically to the U.S. legal entity. The brand is continuing under the name Isla Electronics in the UK.
