Isla S2400

Its not cheap but its a small company creating these products for a niche need.

You aren’t wrong that if you just need an FX send or two, and are OK with the FX not being integrated with your device/patches, Zoom pedals are a great cheap alternative. But that becomes a PITA when you have to switch FX (and possibly mixer sends) on multiple pedals for each track you have in a set. And if you want two FX sends and two insert FX and a master FX, you are talking about five Zoom pedals and that’s not much different in price :stuck_out_tongue:

It’d be nice if it was cheaper for sure. But I don’t think the folks at Isla are making bank off this or anything.

Edit: If I actually had an S2400, I’d possibly run its individual outputs through iOS with my audio interface. That’s what I plan to do with my Caladan. So you aren’t wrong that there are other more general options.

I love Isla as a company. Never had an issue. And im friends with Brad on Facebook. But im an old luddite and this veered away from the SP1200 a long time ago. I wish them well.

I’m kinda curious if the price of the expansion card is going to go up. Its listed as an Early Bird preorder on their site which somewhat implies that its going to go up but nothing really explicitly states that. A few people on the Isla forum mentioned this as well.

I cant imagine they were inundated with orders so staying the same price

It would be cool to have drum synthesis plugins on the dsp card (like machinedrum). I know it says it’s only fx, but I would assume, you could have something like a cv trigger as your sample, and have fx plugins that are basically a synth, that is triggered from the gate in the sample slot. You could even make something like that in puredata or rnbo, and export it as a vst.

I own one of these and I agree to a point. At first I thought the same thing about it not being an SP1200 but if you approach it as one, it can work that way. It’s a bit like the octatrack in that way, just because it can do all these different things doesn’t mean you have to use all those different things.

Whatsup guys, I got the Isla about a year ago and just released my first project I did entirely on the s2400, love its sound!

There’s a lot if samples, and some bass/keys/microkorg/moog gm going into the live looper tracks. Hope you guys like it!

Hey congrats on finishing an album on one device Sleepy. I miss my S2400. Got a space where it used to be. Instant track generator. I dare you to dip below 70bpm.

If you haven’t yet, you should consider making the release its own post in the “Our Music” section. Not everyone gets to the S2400 thread.

I hate when I like someone’s music, but I can’t find any place to buy it and download it lol. Has happened with the last like 20 albums I have wanted to buy. Streaming has f*ed up my music collection so much. Bandcamp is the way!
