Isla S2400

Thank you, that screenshot made up my mind and now it has finally manifested.

Up, can you export 8 tracks via sd card yet? Also does the 8 output over usb still bypass the filters?

Just wondering if anyone has found a solution to get the Mute and Solo buttons trigger with less force? I’m really loving this device and so far this is the only real issue I’ve encountered. I understand that the responsiveness might not be “bad” on all of them, but on mine it is very similar to the video from Ricky Tinez where they only work reliably with considerable force.

I find pressing them exactly in the middle, rather than to one of the sides, helped a lot. Perhaps one could install a little piece of cork under the buttons?

I wouldn’t be suprised if CAIG’s Deoxit Faderlube would fix this. Anyone tried this on non clicky switches ?

I’m really curious if there’s some kind of “bump mod” wherein a sheet can be added underneath to make them more sensitive. When I have time I might reach out to Isla about this, they are pretty responsive and might just not want to advertise this as a problem to avoid negative publicity, when not everyone is bothered by it and it could result in a lot of shipping costs and support tickets

These aren’t tact switches, this will only cause a mess - please don’t!

Thx. Helpful!

So 5m 49s is the max sampling length for high quality stereo?

Can all 8 tracks have samples that length or is that shared?

Think all 8 tracks but not 100%. Plus some additional sampling time in 8 looper tracks.

What are you trying to do?

Can someone explain the S2400’s filters to me? I’m a bit confused by the manual, and I don’t have one to experiment with.

Only outputs 1&2 have an analogue filter? The rest are digital, or are LPF at a fixed frequency?

Cheers

Al tracks have dsp based digital LPF/HPF adjustable filters with resonance.
On top of that some outputs have switchable analog filter circuitry with the same behavior as the original sp1200. Outputs 1-2 have a dynamic lp circuitry and 3-6 a fixed. That means you can add some additional “colour” to your audio after the track digital filters. So depending on material and personal taste you can decide to enjoy the vintage clone sound or modern . More of a bonus feature where user can disable a part of the original circuitry. The outputs analog filters are not to sculp sounds, fixed (high roloff)or fixed dynamic (roloff reacting to source material).

Its just the way the original Sp1200 worked but easier with no messing of cables. Where track 1 and 2 could get that lofi grittiness so loved. Just select 12 bit on track 1 or 2 when you press Shift and pads…

This thing is steadily turning in to my favorite sampler of all time… the sound is just so damn good, both in lofi and hifi mode.

The sequencer took some getting used to, but the looper tracks are amazing in their own right:

A question for the elektronauts s2400 gang out there: do you guys like the scroll wheel? I noticed that I tend to find workaround using the arrow keys to avoid using this one… not sure why rho

It sounds so good right? Even the digital filters sound amazing lol. I haven’t noticed myself avoiding the main encoder though (I think that’s what you mean by scroll wheel).

Quick tip: connect a mini wireless keyboard to it like this guy and naming will become a LOT easier: https://www.amazon.com/Rii-Bluetooth-Keyboard-Lightweight-Compatible/dp/B0BML42L6X/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?crid=1O7X3QJCNFZ7Y&keywords=rii+mini+wireless+keyboard&qid=1703813200&sprefix=mini+witeless%2Caps%2C181&sr=8-3

Yes I do the same, although I think it’s pretty strong.

Yeah I mean the main encoder. Agree with @J_C_SelectorV2 that its probably quite sturdy, but for some reason it feels like the samplers weak point and seems unintuitive to use to me. Maybe its the placement at the top right corner. This thing is built like a tank though, so I very much nitpicking.

Very good call on the keyboard, I forgot this is possible. I saw a guy on youtube using it for other functions too, you can use some keyboard shortcuts apparently, and play/stop using the spacebar which is cool.

I really like the main encoder - find naming things and scrolling great. Way more so than my old MPC One that felt more flimsy.

I got S2400 in the first batch of units. Works perfectly and since I got it, firmware updates doubled the value of machine imho.

Paired with OT is amazing. I use OT as a sequencer, and I get 8 additional outs on S2400, and it sounds absolutely fantastic.

Pro tip for this pairing - dont sync the clock, basically just use sequncer on OT without playing pattern on S2400. That way you get live real-time adjustment of pitch, filter, etc directly on S2400 faders, and its very easy to parameter lock anything inside OT sequencer!

But if you sync it and play the pattern on s2400 (actually record patterns into s2400) it gets much more complicated!
