Is this amount of gear necessary? (klaus schulze)

I love the music, a lot… but is it really necessary to have 100k euro equipment on stage? and… why? only a AK is already that much to me…

I doubt that if he had just recorded everything at home and played the whole thing off a USB stick it would have sounded much differently, so in that sense it’s not necessary. But if you have the means to create your dream setup on stage, why would you settle for anything less?

You don’t buy a Ferrari because it’s the most economical way to get you from A to B.

Dat Wall of quasimidi polymorth/rave o lution’s  Never thought thats even possible, seems like he loves them.

The person she used to make music did it like this

especially the chair of klaus schulze is very nice… i think

I believe he has a lot of REAL Fun while making music live

If I had those skills and gear…I would do exactly the same…jeeeez…that is an amazing stage!

I like a lot also live sessions by https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xLNeZogTsK8

Yes, you definitely need all of those gears to be any good.

You should totally give up making music.

:stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: …lol

He would probably create the same music with just 2 keyboards, a sampler and one dedicated machine for effects.
That being said I love some of the choir and strings sounds

It’s the exact setup needed to produce that National Geographic walrus documentary soundtrack

… I didn’t go far in the video but the beginning was boring…

Would you prefer to pay good money to see him sit in front of a Macbook the whole time?

In this day and age you could get away with the Korg Volca’s and some effects on stage if you felt like it. So no I would not say it is necessary. Honestly you could probably get away with a single ROMpler and recreate this performance. However if I had that gear I would put the instruments on show as much as anything else.

His setup was more impressive back then. One of my most favourite synth porn clips, they also did a nice job filming this performance .

it’s necessary because he wants it there. who cares. why get hung up on such things?

do your thing… klaus schulze will do his.

I am just amazed… and love it when klaus schulze does his thing. I really dig this (and can’t believe when he came to Amsterdam with Lisa Gerrard, I decided to go to the Orb, a very disappointing performance)

My friend who plays for the National Orchestra has a $150 000 violin. I can’t tell the difference between that and her $600 touring violin (or her $2000 one or her $10 000 one) but I’m not about to get hung-up on what other people want to use when performing, especially the cost.

i know a "first violin " guy as well… he says he must dehumidify the room when he practices depending on the weather … otherwise the violin doesnt sound right ,… thank god for elektron boxes!

i wouldn’t mind being able to perform/own so many gears, only if i could use them all and herr schulze seems to do that
it probably also comes down to what you’re playing and how you play your music. he could have recorded all his synths tracks in whichever DAW and then play them back but…would it still sound the same? would it still satisfy his ears?
also, the MIDI sequencers at his back (at least that’s what i think they’re) are controlling the gears he’s not using during the act, which someone has to play so, there you go…
someone says less is more…others don’t  i have to but i wouldn’t :astonished: :sob: :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

edit: great concert, a bit too churchy perhaps

Timewind… how much acid and weed induced trances has that caused in the last 30 years?? In my book he can use whatever he wants. Is it necessary? Probably not but as long as he is happy.

If I had the budget for it, (and the fans , fame, and all other things necessary to pull it off) I would have more machines on stage then jean Michael jarre, Vangelis , Klaus Schultz, underworld, and the orb have combined… just because its funny…

but alaas, the kitchentable will have to do for me…
I don’t think I will win the lottery (don’t even play).
atleast I am having lots of fun… that’s what counts…
not what other people have/can…

so is it necessary, no… I agree with the others… is it fun?
hell yeah… I am just glad I am poor, cause I would have felt sorry for my roadies

The Orb had very little kit on stage when I supported them last year.

Alex DJs (CD and vinyl) and his partner has a laptop.

That is, unless they usually have more kit on-stage?
