Is there any bass out there?

Those midrange Yamaha basses are really underrated I think. I got a really good price on a TRBX505 when I needed one to play a bongzilla cover for a 4/20 show a few years ago, then I never went back to a 4 string.

I’ve always been a fender/gibson guy for guitars but I couldn’t find a good/affordable 5 string bass from either of those brands. My band broke up but if I start playing heavy music live again I’m probably going to spring for a dingwall.

I used to have a Dingwall Super J/P. Lovely basses

I thought about gong Dingwall and ended up, when they first came out (Covid + 10 months wait) with an Ibanez BTB805ms. Such a beautiful monster! I do not regret it.

I cheaped out on the strings I was gonna order :frowning: Just ordered 5 packs of HB long scale strings for 25e, one set of ‘better’ HB strings for 10 and 2 set of super slinkys for the short scale. If I don’t like these then I’m going to try the GHS pressurewounds, they cost over 40e delivered but I hear they last a long time!
Also ordered some diamond files from china :nervous: that should do well filing 45-105. Hope that i’m not going to trash my nuts filing them. I have sharp notes on frets 1-5 on couple of basses (5-15cents, annoying!) and I think it’s because the nut is cut too high. I have measured and they are high. One bass where the notes are on pitch has the nut cut very low and I researched a bit and it’s a common symptom when it’s cut too high.

You’re on the right track. Take it very slowly though, I wouldn’t trust myself to do it

Felt cute, might delete later. Suede cured my sliding leather strap syndrome.
