I was editing the TRIG PARAM’s of my evolving bassline. Is the workflow by design that you manually set each note to a value? Because on my TR-8S I can record the knob turning. This feels like a faster way to record my automation? I also connected my MPC with MIDI to the Syntakt. This way I can also record the automation into MPC but then I need to have the MPC always there.
i think the term is live recording … its on the other devices . pretty sure its on syntakt.
to get it ‘out’ , as in sent to another midi device , i think you need to use a midi track … recording parameter locks on a track only work on the synth track, theyre not sent externally but you might be able to copy the pattern to a midi track and paste it to ensure those locks/notes are sent externally .
if i want to do external automation , i mostly use ableton and send corresponding midi cc’s to the relevant midi channel …
someone else will be able to clarify if using overbridge has any impact on sending midi cc’s from an synth track …
Your’e aware there’s a chromatic (or locked to a scale) keyboard on the Syntakt right? You can just play melodies on the device itself

I want to hit record, and manipulate the Filter frequency knob real-time. After this, the values should be recorded. When I have a PTN with only 2 notes, it should still record the slowly opening of this knob. So not only on moments when there is a key pressed.
This is non exisiting for Syntakt correct?
Yes and no. You can hit real time record, tweak the filter and it will record your movements, BUT it will lock the values to the sequencer steps. So if you record a one-bar pattern with two notes and tweak the filter, it will record 16 discrete consecutive filter steps. The steps where there were no trigs before will be filled with (yellow) lock trigs.

Correct. You can record the movement but there’s no interpolation. It’s a fixed value at each trig so it will change in steps.
You can change parameters smoothly over time using LFOs. See the chart in section 10.10 of the manual…

And in regards to LFO don’t want to sacrifice one of the two slots ;).
You have the Analog FX block and FX track for filter ramps. LFO works there too.

Just a clarification of what I wrote above:
From OS 1.40 Elektron added the option to disable recording of lock trigs on unpopulated steps in live recording mode. Previously, it would always add new lock trigs when turning the encoders. This can now be disabled, so that locks will only appear on existing note trigs (just like on the Machinedrum, which doesn’t have lock trigs).

Ah haven’t explored FX a lot. Digging into it tonight!
1 Question: I copy paste my pattern across H01 / H08.
Then PTN, select 1 / 8 then playing H01 / H08 as a chain. When I then record my automation, the Filter starts each PTN - obviously - at the same start point. I guess for the first note I should then set it at where I want the next PTN to start. There’s no way around this I guess? Small thing though.
The filter’s base value will be the same on each pattern but the LFO ramp can run across several patterns.
