Is one elektron unit better as master than another?

I just picked up an AR and AK to add to my setup after much debate and I’m in the process of rewiring my rig…

there should be a pic here of an AK, AR, MD & MnM with a moog minitaur in the back, but I can’t seem to insert a pic for some reason. here’s a link instead

Previously I used my MD as a master and used a controller for both the MnM and minitaur, using the MnM as a sequencer for the minitaur as well. with the addition of the AK I’m ditching my controller and may or may not use it to sequence the minitaur with CV instead of midi, still have to test to see if it makes much difference. I’m still figuring out what the best chain would be though…

the AR is taking over primary drum duties, depending on the outcome I may not keep the MD, or severely reduce its use. does one of these units have a “better” clock than another for some reason? use the AR as the master?

The MD isn’t great as a master clock source (see [here](http://www.innerclocksystems.com/New ICS Litmus.html)), one of the newer boxes is probably the best bet.

What I find interesting out of those devices this that only the MnM states in it’s manual that it has a high precision MIDI clock where the other machine manuals do not. However the MnM manual is implying when slaving non Elektron devices. Moreover playing the MnM as an external sound module requires the MnM to be Master anyways i.e., Multi Trig and Poly mode.
