Is it true that there is no "SOLO"?

In all the years of using Elektron gear I never once thought about Solo. Not once.

So I guess that means I don’t need it.

Cupholders tho…it’s literally all I could think about when using Elektrons. It’s really no fun trying to mute 14 tracks at once if I’ve got nowhere to put my piña colada.

It’s “SOLO” the “parameters slide “ of 2025?

you just haven’t tasted the benefits of this feature yet…
because there was no solo mode

Don’t get me wrong, I’ve used solo before on other gear/Ableton whatever, just never thought about it when using Elektron gear.

Can see why people would want it though, but it’s just not that big a deal to me.

imagine that this is like the fill mode, only not for specific steps, but for selected tracks… you could activate some channels on the fly and mute others, etc. (this is a solo mode for several tracks, a more advanced version)…I would have been fine with just one track for timebreaks and effects

To my mind it’s absolutely not necessary in a non-performance mode. If you’re not performing then it should be adequate to ‘glissando’ across the trigs, muting everything, then hit one trig to solo the track you want.

OP if you’re new to elektron this swipe across the keys may not seem like an obvious move.

In performance mode, same technique applies in conjunction with ‘prepare trigs’. Unfortunately ‘prepare trigs’ is only available on DT2 and DN2 so far not Syntakt.

For Syntakt soloing a track as an on-the-fly performance feature looks a bit tough but you may be able to prepare in advance with the mutes in song mode. There may be tricks available for mass-muting tracks using NEIghbour trig conditions too.

I can’t enjoy the gift of imagination until I find somewhere to put this fucking Piña Colada down!

Yeah, i have requested it in the thread before. Very useful for mixing, sculpting the sound, and performance.

well yeah…i can already see how you work on DT2, having an arrangement of all 16 channels, you decide to make some final improvements to individual channels and start muting 15 triggs over and over again…great)

It’s easy ONE SWIPE mutes 16 trigs. Right hand, first finger on 9 middle finger on 1, pull to the right, it’s done in one move. Then a second tap to solo the track you’re interested in.

EDIT: If you’re new to elektron it may not be obvious how the Digi box layout allows quicker operations than you might expect. Try watching a Ricky Tinez video (Digitakt typically) for an idea of what’s possible.

I don’t really understand the logic of people who don’t welcome improvements .
I just hope that it is technically possible to implement

i hate solo buttons , i never uses it , it confuses my brain the hell and i’m glad there’s no solo on either Elektron machines.

it’s funny because you use solo just not by pressing one button for solo, but by pressing many other buttons to make mutes
one way or another - this is a solo mode for one track)))

Someone needs vacations!

Where did you see me rejecting an improvement ? I was was trying to tell you that your problem is easy to work around,

I don’t own an Elektron atm, have no horse in this particular race…

But I agree, for many styles of music easy soloing is essential.

Swiping doesn’t really cut it, the timing will be off, plus, what if you’re using multiple boxes?

For me, an easy one-finger solo is an essential feature.

absolutely right…and I am sure that in elektron they know this better than us…but I am afraid… there are apparently technical problems to implement it…

Which is why I qualified the swipe suggestion with

  • suitable for non-performance context
  • suitable for performance only with ‘prepare mutes’ (available with DT2 and DT2, not for the OPs syntakt (yet)).

Sure. But for me, a soloing feature, it’s pretty much implied that its performing related. Otherwise, you could just use mutes, and of course, swipe them etc.

The Solo mode reside in the Song mode.
