Fm is a playable form of distortion, i get sounds out of dn1 it is just crazy, i dont need a pedal for it, its just mapping the op relationship to modwheel and breath /Aftertouch.
Ess had a twitch stream back in the day reviewing some of that set. Also the sysex is available if you buy the album off bandcamp.
Main thing is key tracking the hi pass filter with max resonance tuned to peaks of the sound.
I’ve done some similar experiments far more into noise world than granules does. It can be really tasty
Yep I tuned in for that too! Lol so good changed the way I use the DN
You can blow whatever you want!
That stuff sounds amazing. SO W-I-D-E.
Had a good experimentation session last night. What was interesting to me was how thin and ‘electronic’ the feedback parameter sounded (SYN1) compared to distortion. I only really got it sounding nice and dirty when I cranked both overdrive parameters up, but then that would change everything.
It has a cool Clark vibe
Feedback on the syn pages is in the fm sense not audio feedback. But a good use I like is to use
algo 1
simple 1:1 ratio for an and c operators
Max feedback.
Set the a level to like 5-10
Play deep like ~c1 octave stuff.
You should have a fuzzy sub bass.
Pitch track your filter and set it to hp
Max resonance and tune to the note you’re playing until you hear everything else blow out.
From there continue to sculpt the sound as you see fit.
Different levels of master overdrive sound good for different uses.
