If they fixed the pads and increased the storage in a new version I’d buy one in a heartbeat. I miss the playability on the DT. I hope they don’t give up on the AR line.

I almost had a heart attack reading this as I bought the MK2 a few hours ago (although a used one)
In any case, I’m loving the MK2 so far and will most likely get the MK3 if it comes out.

AR Mk2 will always be a good drum machine/sampler and AR Mk1 will always be a good drum machine. No matter if Elektron drops an Mk3 some day in the future or drops the AR line all together, it wouldn’t change a single thing about their older instruments. Just keep that in mind.

Unfortunately I had to return my AR MK2 since it randomly crashed and made this weird noise sometimes. Bought it refurbished from a store that usually doesn’t offer returns, but I convinced them to give me a few days to test it out properly. Glad I did that.
I went ahead and ordered a Gotharman Spazedrum instead, it looks like an incredible machine!

My Mk1 makes weird noises sometimes, but it goes away when I calibrate the oscillators. I’ve just internalized that I should do this in advance of any performances. Can’t recall any crashes though.

It happened both before and after calibrating the oscillators actually, also as you can hear in the video it made a short burst of the sound everytime I started it.

Actually though, now that the TR-1000 is out and has arrived, this feels more than the Rytm mk2 ever was. What an absolute beast. Great sound, incredible capability and easy to get the sound you want without having to squeeze it out of the parameters. The knobs feel a bit crowded but I’m sure that will be easy to get used to. Stellar build quality too!

I love the AR and had a mk1&2 over a span of 8 years, but the TR1000 is way beyond the AR in every way, I think. It’s got a bit of Digitakt, Digitone and Octa in it too. Hats off to Roland, as they’ve taken all the great bits out of the Elektron philosophy and mixed it in with their heritage to create a proper power house drum machine / groove box.

I could, at best, get $1500 for my AR mk2 on Reverb, more like $1200-1300. So probably half the cost of a new TR-1000… man i’m supposed to be saving for a house right now

Haha. I gave up hardware over a year ago and even sold my monitors recently so I’m just sat here playing with this thing on headphones right now!
Looks like some decent monitors will be coming back into my life soon!

Just saw that most retailers have dropped the price of the AR MKII to $1,999. That’s $300 less than usual. Unfortunately, I paid the higher price (my last zzounds payment is this month, lol)! Any thoughts on the AR MK3 coming soon? I would love to see an update on the MKII, but I’d like to see an MK3 even more. Larger hard drive, all of the sampling machines, of the Digitakt and features that compete with the Roland TR-1000. Thoughts?
