Damn. We could have talked so much about that box they saw. You know, dimensions, volume of it, material, prints etc. Did it have stickers?!
Was it just an empty Mk2 box and someone needs glasses? Was a cat in that studio and did it like that box or did it favour another box?

I bought a Rytm MK1 two months ago, and I think it will stay with me for life, even if an MK5 comes out. For $600, it’s one of the most powerful and versatile drum machines ever created.

Same. The sampling functionality is pretty nice, but like all the Mk1s, Rytm Mk1 is just the perfect form factor (imho). I’ll probably get myself a Digitone to complete my Mk1 trinity with proper fm and just skip Mk2s entirely.

Yeah, my setup now is an Analog Rytm MK1, an Analog Four MK1, and a Digitone 1. Guess I’ve got a soft spot for MK1s. For the price of a new MK2, I got a full setup. I’ve had the MK2s before, and while I do prefer the faster workflow and extra features, the MK1 form factor and lower cost won me over. That form factor is perfect—they’re the exact same size as the Digitone, while the MK2s are a bit too big for anyone short on space.

I have an Analog Keys + Mk1 Rytm and Octa. The MK2s are nice, but I’d have to swap my Keys for an A4 Mk2 or they really wouldn’t fit comfortably on my desk. I really enjoy the joystick and the keybed on my AK, so I don’t think I’ll ever change it to an A4 Mk2…

Needless to say I’m still curious what Elektron is up to…

If they fixed the pads and increased the storage in a new version I’d buy one in a heartbeat. I miss the playability on the DT. I hope they don’t give up on the AR line.

AR Mk2 will always be a good drum machine/sampler and AR Mk1 will always be a good drum machine. No matter if Elektron drops an Mk3 some day in the future or drops the AR line all together, it wouldn’t change a single thing about their older instruments. Just keep that in mind.

Unfortunately I had to return my AR MK2 since it randomly crashed and made this weird noise sometimes. Bought it refurbished from a store that usually doesn’t offer returns, but I convinced them to give me a few days to test it out properly. Glad I did that.

I went ahead and ordered a Gotharman Spazedrum instead, it looks like an incredible machine!
