iPad Music Apps

I was thinking $40 too, but honestly I could see it being a lot more. It’s a lot of synth. I could see saving up to pay $40 for it though, but personally it would be hard to justify much more.

I’d say 40 is pretty fare for the amount of classic Roland you get. Im pretty sure you can also upload the sounds into an MC707, but havent tried yet. Noticed they both use the same sound file type when I was checking out the exports options. The public relations guy has been taking peoples suggestions over on Loopypro’s forum, so if you got any, go there and post them in the Zenology thread.

I got a Morningstar MC8 midi foot controller and I have mapped it for Patterning 3. I can start/stop, move to next or prior pattern, trigger fills, control some fx parameters. There are a few limitations but overall I am happy to have this control so I can make these changes while playing bass or while playing iOS synths.

Tip for anyone who’s into experimental generative apps -

Dev has been very active in the loopy forum responding to requests and added a load of new features. Well worth your £3.99

Yep, I’m really enjoying this app too. It leans heavily towards industrial/dark ambient vibes, which I really dislike….but when I stumble across something good, then it’s very good indeed. As @jawside says, a very engaged and open minded developer, with loads of cool new features being added. Definitely worth £4!

Just read this is coming in the next update

“You will be able to load AUv3 plugins directly into three types of nodes: instruments, FX processors and midi controllers.
Imagine something like AUM, but entirely modular.
The whole thing is pretty wild that can assure you. Especially when angiogenesis mode is enabled and you see how a network of existing plugins and vascular nodes start to evolve on its own”

Wild!

If you own an iPad, you should grab it and explore! It’s insane!

Grabbed it but despite the tutorial it remains cryptic for now…

Oh it’s totally cryptic, I agree. But a few sessions and you get the hang of it. Look for Nuno Zumas (the dev) on YouTube; he’s done a walkthrough video that I found really useful.
Enjoy!
Put “vascular tactile” into YouTube search

love that this exists on the ipad

i threw it in some of my efx chains and its supernoice. need the sounds of aliens crawling into your spaceship window with a baseball bat?

Fun tip. I loaded Radio Unit into my Loopy Pro template, tuned to some old-timey radio plays.

I left it on in the background while practicing piano, and whenever something on the radio caught my ear, I hit the retrospective record button to grab it. Then I can go and trim the samples later.

I also like having the radio on while I work on music. Talk radio only. This works out really well.

A new one from the wonderful Fred Anton Corvest:

Gravity: a frequency shifter for creating Barberpole and Shepard style glissandos, spectral illusions, stereo rotation, chorusing, phasing, evolving echoes, infinite cosmic spaces, and all the combinations you’ll make

Don’t worry! It will be free forever!

Until Roland have fixed the tempo-syncing, or the universe ends… which ever comes first :joy:

The random sequencer generator tools on this actually pairs really well with elektron sequencer (especially digitakt) if you use send its midi out via aum transposed so that its track notes align with track triggers.

Extremely fast way to generate really interesting yet still very musical patterns or tracks

Plus it really does sound great as sampler food

Excellent app all round

Do you prefer Vascular over midi rack? I was planning to buy midi rack due to its vast modular approach for generative music but reading your comments are making me doubt it. Or maybe this is a (good) signal to prevent me from expending more money on apps

Great to hear of this! His Alteza is still the best reverb around, IMO.

Hi! sorry slow and getting back to forums  Yes been trying it out on a residency recently - some thoughts

  • in general it’s really great…nice work!! it’s easy to set-up and use and the movement recording options work well… has been quite stable too
  • there are some UI issues for me (mainly I think because I’m on an iPad mini, but could be useful for anyone. You can seen in the attached photo that there’s a lot of white space around the interface so it’s hard to fit more than one or two on a screen without the controls becoming really small and difficult to use. Could this space be trimmed somehow so the interface fits the window?
  • I think faders would be nicer than dials, I always find they make more sense on a touch screen

the wish list would be that you could add more speaker channels  6 or 8 channel ring for example?
