Hey guys,
I m struggling to find the best way to record into Ipad’s Aum.
What I am looking for?
- Audio over usb (audio interface) to use with laptop / ipad
- 5-6 audio inputs
- Multitrack recording
- midi in/out
- Being able to record loops (to sample my modular)
- Something not huge
The best match for me is 1010 Bluebox BUT its not an audio interface which is pitty.
TX-6 tick all boxes apart not having regular midi out.
Tascam Model 12 looks like a great option but it’s too big for my setup…
I was thinking to buy blackbox + small passive mixer to put all inputs and then output of blackbox to external audio of Syntakt and use Overbridge but then i would need to jump on mute / unmute all the time.
Not huge - rules out the Zoom or Tascam style digital mixers.
5-6 inputs - this leaves a standard audio interface. Search on sweetwater or other music site that allows you to filter by number of inputs and within your price range. You’ll get a few choices.

Something like the Clarett 4Pre meets the needs.
If you have a bit more cash something like the Audiofuse Studio works well too.
I’ve not personally tried it, but after a fair bit of research I was looking at the Steinberg UR44C to pair with my 11 inch ipad pro. Was planning to sit the ipad on top as it has a really similar footprint to that ipad.
As I said, never actually tried it in the end (I have other interfaces and just rarely feel like recording straight into ipad) but pretty sure it ticks all the iOS compatibility boxes.
obviously it’s the Kmix. It’s a great Interface for the IPad and AUM.
