Actually this seems like a really great suggestion. It has elements of both Ableton and elektron boxes and a great GUI. It’s kind of a pity they limited it with only two modulator slots but I wonder If I can use some external AUV3 for that
Also have a look at Loopy Pro’s Roadmap:
Would be great if more companies would offer such information… #hinthint
MIDI Looping is ‘In Progress’ and so is a more advanced implementation of Busses (also under ‘Planned’).
I’ve switched entirely from AUM to Loopy, simply because it’s actively maintained and developed (not sure about AUM…) and AUM doesn’t seem to allow external devices or apps to be the Sync / Clock Master.
When it comes to customization and setting things up, please have a look at:
Yeah - the lack of MIDI clock in is probably the biggest drawback to using AUM as a host.
There are workarounds, as it does support Ableton Link (so you use an app that converts MIDI clock to Link) but that’s not something I am a fan of.
It does still receive updates from time-to-time, but not at the pace of something like Loopy Pro.
So I’ve settled for BAM actually (and can use Drambo if I need more flexibility), it has exactly the workflow I was looking for and is super focused, it’s kind of reminiscent of both Elektron and Ableton workflow. There are a few shortcoming like a lack of smooth automation but the developer said it’s on their roadmap. And also has only two modulators per tracks but afaik it should be able to host more advanced sequencers for that kind of stuff so that should have automating syntakt covered. Loopy looks very promising as well, so I’ll definitely pick it up at some point just to keep things fresh workflow wise.
