Introducing Tonverk

DT would be better for performance I guess, which is something I’m less focused on right now.

I feel the same. It feels like it would make my workflow a lot more cumbersome to manage. I don’t see any need for multi-samples as I have multiple polys already. FX routing and automation are very cool but I can add them in DAW. This feels like an ultimate dawless explorer’s dream box though. I guess I enjoy my hybrid workflow that is editing and adding FX in DAW timeline and having all separately tracked. Not as explorative or dynamic as doing it all on Tonverk surely but it fits my workflow well.

Synverk OTOH, can’t wait for that one.

I think DT is better at just banging out tracks, compared to OT. With the OT you have to think more and to fiddle more. DT is just sweet spots everywhere and less features mean that the ones that are there are easier to access and faster to use.

Even though I’m broke AF and selling rather than buying gear, it warms my cold unemployed heart to see the community so engaged. Elektron gear is always, always so much fun.

I’ll get my hands on you one day, Toneverk!

Import tax is just the same tax you’d pay in Canada. Duties shouldn’t be too bad, as there are no tarrifs on it.

Peter Kirn with his take on the Tonverk. Like his blog, since it’s always very musical/artist oriented and not a gear centric one

As a newcomer to Elektron gear itself, I’m inspired to see how our tech’s evolved, and after browsing the synth and groovebox market, I’m also inspired to see them do quite a fair bit well across their devices.

Whether you realize it or not, this rationality is the backbone of what makes elektronauts great and separates us from the circus act you get on other gear forums and you should be recognized for your support of others enthusiasm and your optimistic, but decisive commitment to reality.

i was in the middle of reading that

No, a track cannot be routed into another track. Only the busses, Mix AB outs or the CD/EF outputs (EF is headphone out.)

don’t worry, just check above for “filterbank”

hmm yeah not mentioned in the manual. I’m sure there will be a way to do it sooner than later.

I don’t see any killer features here that make this attractive over other options that are already available, which is surprising. It feels like it needed just one more thing to make it stand out. Really surprised they didn’t launch with any synth engines.

The main event is multisamples and autosampling, which MPC can already do and is something I’d probably rather do on the computer. I guess this is built to sell sample packs?

Subtracks are kits of 8 samples, so over 8 tracks you can have 64 samples. You can do that on Move with 4 tracks of 16 sample drum racks at a third of the cost. Obviously this is much nicer hardware and build quality, but still. If Move adds multisamples…

I’m sure they have a roadmap of cool stuff to add but at the moment it feels underwhelming.

…see…errr…hear…everything as expected…

the first truu polyphonic sampler from elektron…
capable of classic multimapping…even with an autopilot…

first firmware update will iron the bugs…and then further track machines/engines
that will mingle single cycle waves with wavetable scanning and of course another one that is diving deep through granular clouds…
and one or two more fx algos will be cherries on top later on in the future…

as long there’s no static engine to roll along on stereo stem files of any length and given the fact that tv will never have a crossfader to offer, ot users can remain calm and happy…

for all the others, well, THIS THING covers pretty much all the rest of realtime mangling raw audio fun…

only downside i can imagine…if u spent money on a brandnew dtakt2 just last week…

None of the other options have the Elektron sequencer though, that’s a huge plus for a lot of people.

Yeah the lack of kits seems weird. The way it is implemented with Perform Kit on the DT2 seems great (I haven’t used one) and it’s a shame to lose that. Also yeah macros of some kind would be useful. Hopefully they will add more in this area over time.

Looks like a sick device anyway. I’m much more interested in effect based sound design than synthesis these days and am fully in the box now, but I kinda miss Elektron stuff and this might be the bridge I need. Pretty sure I’ll end up buying one.

Move sequencer is better. Don’t ban me pls. :grimacing:

Again the leakers forced Elektron’s hand at releasing this earlier. It could have been another 3 months before it was a killer machine but the clout chasers are going to clout chase.

I still preordered on elektrons site knowing that more changes are coming and the exploring of loops starts as soon as possible.

I’m into this one. Buses, sends, FX, polyphony, a bunch of sequencer tracks… Seems to be a dope ass sampler.

Definitely not getting rid of the DT or OT, but I’ll probably grab one of these things pretty S0/00/0N.

As an Octatrack owner, and one who has just ordered a Tonverk, I can confirm that I am very happy.
