Just been spoiled with the 127s
I’m warming to this box if only to abuse it on the couch as I’m too precious to bring my daddy toys out of the bunker.
Also my little brother blew my mind when he showed me how he was using his DT with loops only, I mean I was really proud of him!
I can see how his techniques could be shoehorned into this box with some slight adaptation.
They are using High Resolution parameters in their other gear (Digitone, for example). Having Sample Start / End be High Resolution negates that 4 year old explanation
Mario’s actually been around a while I think, I remember him doing some Digitakt videos last year. Not that it really matters but still, haha.
Volume + Dist sets the level of the sample. The default setting is 60. Higher settings than 60 gradually increase the volume and distortion. (0–127)
hmm, so it’s not possible to distort a track at low volume? If so do you plan to change it in firmware update? @Ess
Btw, I’m really glad there is no 127 slots limit.
Yeah no problem, distort the hell out of the sample via Vol+Dist and then lower the track volume.
yes, that’s what I also did. I figured that may have been the cause of it. It wasn’t a loud noise, but it went on and off as the lights on the pads went on and off… it was just a minor disturbance, but enough for me to sell them.
I missed the main level knob
Unarguably the worst presets I’ve heard on an Elektron device, even through Klipsch speakers. All the others sound good even through phone speakers.
Edit: Typed up a bunch of constructive criticism but there’s no point in beating a dead horse when my voice will go unheard or hear “but bro it could be useful in xyz way”. I will accept these changes to my beloved company and move on.
The most exciting part of this release is seeing how sales do.
Klipsch!
Yeah, tbh it seems like Soundcloud producers are who they are targeting with this but it makes no sense. Why would a 16 year old buy this when they already have a laptop and a pirated copy of FL Studio? It’s a really misguided marketing position, imo. But only time will tell.
i think a lot of people are a little hurt by this release by the slight detour away from techno/house/dance styling/aesthetics.
Oh well, people who dismiss things simply because of genres or appearance suck anyways
(not targeted at anyone, i listen to and work with too many genres so this is just my personal mantra <3)
Sampling/sample manipulation and hip-hop will never be torn apart. even if it’s sampling live instruments or triggering vocal samples or scratching on an existing track. There’s a reason all the talented hip-hop producers can’t stray away from the MPC. the midi resolution, swing, and overall expressiveness that the pads offer is still something Elektron has to catch up to.
I think the M:S is a step in the right direction in regards to this. I am super excited to see threads like “hip-hop made with the digitakt” and the such which was EXTREMELY rare on this website when I first joined pre-rytm release.
Hopefully that’s not a shot at me because I literally make beats.
nah i don’t care what genre/type of music YOU make. i do care that elektron has a diverse user base.
TL:DR i like what elektron is doing lately and their most recent machines are attracting artists/musicians from more varied backgrounds.
Fair enough. Cheers to not caring what the community is doing.
This a small sample of the elektron user base, don’t get it twisted.
I rarely do.
I really don’t think people are mad because this is geared towards a certain genre… because it isn’t. Its more about the frustrating combination of functionalities imo
I think overall people are mad because this is not geared towards them as a current elektron machine owner (existing elektron users who likely own a sampler/sample player from them by now if they’re posting furiously here)
meanwhile people who were waiting for NAMM to hold off on buying a takt/OT/rytm can buy one comfortably.
having the M:S offered as a cheaper entrance to the Elektron Lifestyle™ just makes first time owners decision far easier with less initial time commitment to learn the UI.
People are mad and only becouse plastic housing, midi dongles, no inputs and no sampling no oversampling, price hi, but still better sequencer than a4 dt dn, it is hard to see why ? Appealing to masses , cheaper, simpler? Yes maybe , noone is mad becouse of that, but also everything from above i said is let down. A bit
so you want them to make an Octatrack for the same price? i dont get it
