I know they weren’t going for a traditional VA with the Wavetone machine, but I wonder how squelchy and acid like it can get. I watched a few demos and none went into that territory
There is a acid demo on their website.
if someone buys a special edition of a synth 6 years after it was made and then gets mad that the company releases a new box that’s prolly on them.
Oooooh so there is, “Citric Acid”, well damn, that sounds bloody good.
How they got that distorted/saturated 303 sound using just the DN2 I don’t know (unless those demos do feature external effects)
I wonder how the DN|| E25 will look like? probably silver?
sorry if this was covered, i saw some speculation but did we learn what the polyphony is per step on midi tracks?
im hoping chords behave similarly to the other dn2 tracks with independent note length recorded in true to midi input. even though i assume note edit feature is audio machines only
Yes the demos are well down…mastered for shure…like an ABBA-Album:)
For me, those sixteen voices over sixteen tracks, being able to utilize paramter and sound locks, as well as controlling other stuff with midi tracks would definitely make this pretty much a studio in a box.
I’m sitting here thinking about 10 audio track, with 6 midi tracks controlling various things in Max/MSP, routing the audio in all sorts of ways through Max/MSP and back again…
Obviously, I’m not making huge lush pads and crying about note overlap. If that’s your thing, get Omnisphere and a maxed out laptop.
this is massive for me. dn og is my primary dawless sequencer brain. so all of the incredible updates and actual reworking of the elektron sequencer here is something ive literally dreamt about. this solves basically every problem ive ever had with it
From the Digitone II product page:
Synth: 16 note polyphony per step
3 × assignable LFOs per voice
MIDI: 16 note polyphony per step
16 × assignable CC controls
2 × assignable LFOs per track
Looks great, with MPE this would be an instabuy. Hoping for an update for that.
I wait first for touchsensitive keys:)
Yeses, Digitone II Keys pleeease!
My whole setup consists of Digitakt (OG) + Digitone Keys + Analog Heat (MKII). Sometimes, I use my Digitone (I, desktop) for portability. So for me there´s got to be a Digitone II Keys before I can think of upgrading to Digitone II. I so hope there’s gonna be one some day.
And then, someday, my setup will be Digitakt II + Digitone II Keys + Analog Heat +FX and my brain will be supercharged.
Anyways, Digitone II is quite obviously a fantastic machine!
Considering how MW/AT/BC are macros over the machines’ parameters, they could at least record the corresponding P-locks.
Excellent setup! I kind of want to build another suitcase combo like I did a few years back actually. That was a lot of fun, and easy to move around. I would absolutely set aside the stability of my current setup, and find a way to squeeze a Digitone II Keys in with the Super Gemini though.
That would be amazing! The only reason I actually sold the last DN Keys I had was that I couldn’t really fit it. I also tended to use it a bit heavily for MIDI too, so the best parts of it kind of sat idle a lot of the time. I always miss it when it’s gone though. (reason I’ve had three…)
I have a Digitakt II now, so if I got a Digitone II, I could do a new version of this:
Would just need to order another Analogue Case, and my VESA co-mounting panel.
If the case was just a touch bigger, it could also have a Syntakt, and Heat+FX in there… Or maybe a different type of case completely that had a deep enough lid to put those in and still close.
In terms of features, this surely has to be the biggest upgrade from one generation of Elektron to the next!
Is Overbridge available right out of the gate?
I thought the exact same thing.
No, not yet. However, there’s already an OS update available.
I think it’s goofy that the Digitone II has SWARM from Syntakt and nothing else. Might as well throw in all the digital percussion machines imo. Might as well give the Syntakt the compressor and chorus FX too.
I’d much rather make percussion sounds with the digitone’s FM and percussive machines than any of the machines on the ST.
I like the more open ended sound design nature of making percussion with something like the DN2 than the ST.
Porting the Swarm machine over isn’t my favorite thing about the DN2, but they do seem to have made it a much more in-depth machine in terms of sound design.
