Introducing Digitone II

I would have said, that the DT2 is already on the new hardware and with that, new software.

it might be - tbf i’m only bothered about what the devices do, not so much how and i have no horse in the overbridge race, so my recollection is at best 50/50 … in any case, whatever the reason (and there are many) the DN2 plugin is next in line, presumably because the DN2 followed the DT2

Dude, the developers at Elektron are crazy good. Of course they will make a common interface for OB when they make a new platform as they have done with DT2 and DN2. Still, of course not everything is copy-paste from one to the other.
But all I am saying is that I found it weird that it would take so long for OB on DN2, when they have done the groundwork on the DT2.
That statement seems to make many grown men a bit defensive though.
I think even an average developer at Elektron is better than me, so I am not critiquing in that way, I just would expect OB on DN2 a lot faster when the groundwork already has been done on DT2. That’s all, and I don’t want this to take any more space in this thread now.

Is there an option to link tracks on the Digitone 2?

Was going top stick with my OG Digitone (especially as they are selling for about £350 currently in the UK) but the combination of the new update (chords thing mainly) and one coming up on Thomann for £760 stocked pushed me over…ordered

Yes, it’s the “track layering” option in the setup menu. I haven’t explored it much, but it seems like it has a lot of potential, for lush stereo effects, adding textural layers to pads, etc

i was just playing “insect (a02)” from the factory patterns, unmuting each track in numerical order

will whoever made this pattern please stand up?

you should be teaching a course on how to do this

Something I found in 1.10 which I didn’t see mentioned, in Keyboard Setup you can hold func and edit which settings are per track and which are per pattern which is very nice!

Forgot to report back but I get a weird behaviour, using the DN2 as the audio interface on Bitwig 5.3 I get no audio but if I open Rogue Amoeba Loopback, create an unused virtual interface with the DN2 in it then I start getting some audio into the channels I setup on Bitwig.

Not sure what’s the issue, if it’s the interplay between the ARK stack used by Rogue Amoeba’s software, if it’s something to do with Bitwig’s new audio interface selection (which I love), or if it’s some buggy behaviour between the DN2 and macOS’s audio stack.

Pretty weird… And annoying

Nice!

… spherical sounds from the digitone ii …

Can’t manage to use my digitone 2 as an audio interface, I only used it with digitakt 1 which was doing this job, but just today I realized it didn’t work with Digitone 2. It doesn’t seems to be detected no matter the cable, any idea?

I always ask before doing basics, for anyone encountering the problem : settings > system > usb settings > USB audio/midi ON

Anyways, anybody managed to sound design a Andean Flute somewhat like the Flute2Hard Winds preset on Ableton’s operator? Anything resembling a flute tbh, I struggle, I always liked FM (Ableton Operator and Opsix) even though I never dived too far into, but I find digitone fm layout quite intimidating and counter intuitive, especially if I try to reproduce other fm synths presets

Edit : I eventually find fm drum more intuitive for my use of fm to design pads, bass and chords

Something like this?

The air sound is missing since the noise had some artefacts.

… or noise into Comb- instead of FM …
