Introducing Digitone II

a billion ppq, plays free, no grid, loop length set with divisions of actual time (seconds, ms, microseconds)

With such specs, the answer to the original question is “no”, then.

Just spotted the H16 “GØDNAT” preset…
Lovely vibe.

Sounds a bit like the music in Ultima VI. Very nice!

Nice nursery rhyme style.
(A note seems off to my ears, last mesure 3rd step, G#. I’d prefer an A.)

I was just watching the original digitone unveiling, seeing @Ess passion for it is very cool - made me look forward to being back with my DNII to keep digging into it.

Best new sound pack for DN2?

Can you swing per track? Also, by live inputting chords using a midi kb the note lengths can vary now, right?
There is some annoying external kb limitation in DN1, but cant exactly remember what it was. I think it had to do something with daw and how you couldnt add chords to the sequencer (via usb) unless connected with midi in. Might have been that you can live play them in but not hold the step down and add chord on that step. This still the case?

Per pattern.

Yes.

Pitchbend, Modwheel, BreathCtrl, AfterTouch, CCs not passed through midi out, nor recorded. CCs 70-85 can be mapped.

Not aware of a problem in that concern, even with DN1.

I have compared the manuals of the DT and DT2. Apart from the missing chord mode, Elektron has “forgotten” a few more details: You can no longer temporarily switch to keyboard mode while in grid recording and transposing the pitches of single arpeggiator steps doesn’t seem to be scale-aware anymore.

The removal of useful functions is something that always bothers me about Elektron. Solo via MIDI on the OG DT is another example.

Pretty sure it wasn’t scale aware on DN1 either, and I think the manual’s mention of it was an error (it was also mentioned in an earlier draft of the DN2 manual and subsequently removed)

From external midi, no. Not passed through. These can be recorded if tweaked with corresponding encoders on a midi track.

Still a big midi limitation. My MPC 500 is ready to come back.

Hissquiet’s pack is golden for exploring just how different and wild the DN2 can sound. I’d also love to see more packs - esp. some more ‘traditional’ perc sounds using the FM Drum engine

Agree on the sound pack. I have it :sparkler::sparkler:

I’m working on this track where I’ve used a number of analog style sounds. It’s mainly the Wavetone machine for the synth sounds but the bass arp is FM Tone since I made it on DN 1 and like it as it is.

@walrusbongo - replying to your earlier questions about DN II doing analog.

Good job @Soarer !
Wavetone Layers ?

I hope it’s not my fault ! :joy::grimacing:

Thanks sezare! The pad is 2 layers and panned opposite yes :grinning:

Don’t think it’s because of you, sounded like they wanted something else.

Thanks! Yeah I started to debug the problem I had and realized you need to be on auto channel for the note input to work in grid recording mode.

Check DN2 note edit, up to 16 notes, independent velocity, length, microtiming !

Is there an estimate as to when the DNII will be restocked?
