Introducing Digitone II

Would love to hear some of those EP patches if you can share! I was having a try using comb- seemed to get the closest, but I didn’t find anything I was happy with.

I love it, it reminds me of the Deux Ex 1 game soundtrack for some reason. I will have to try to recreate some of the tracks when I get my hands on one.

Whoa. That’s wild.

I’m imagining a Karen Dreijer vocal over this beat.

Thanks for the advice. For some reason I can no longer replicate it, so I guess problem solved? Super weird.

No i’m trying to figure out why I can’t seem to get a slow LFO.

What’s this about the screen protruding on some units? This isn’t something I’ve noticed before

Did my first live set using the DN2 last night and it was very fun and all went very well! \o/

On the e25 remix editions, the screens are more tightly fit into the chassis, with the screen glass apparently being made of a different material and protruding slightly. It gives a nice effect to the unit IMHO

Was thinking exactly the same.

Alright dudes, I was gonna try to squeeze more out of this one single pattern but i hit plock limit so I’m just gonna call it finished lol. Can’t really convey it via streamed MP3 but the sound quality of this unit is unreal. It’s so hifi and detailed.

I don’t have a Digitakt II to compare but if its effects and clarity are on par with this it’s going to be very very hard for me not to upgrade my DT now. Digitone II is now tied with my A4mkII for favorite synth. Elektron overachieved IMO.

Yes, high feedback can introduce interesting behaviour and some of the other parameters become very sensitive. One trick is to dial the modulator ratio to 0.001 and play with the feedback parameter

Took a couple photos which will explain better:

No, you can’t, you would have to recreate the settings afaik.

Let’s see if I’ll make some audio. But don’t get too excited, those ”Rhodes, Wurly, Ac.piano” etc. are mostly sound characters, highly subjective and just quick funny experimental presets I came up with. That’s why I used quotation marks ”” with their names. As said in the beginning I have no real interest to tweak them much further, if I need Rhodes or A.Piano obviously I’ll take them from other source. But point was and still is that DN ii can make surprising sound qualities quite easily. It’s very flexible and has wide palette of sounds. Something which I haven’t had earlier and with this novice level of sound design (just couple of hours with it and no manual used )

This Rhodes like patch on Hydrasynth is a good reference for me. I think we can get close with DN2…

Here’s a little jam I made tonight with a decent Rhodesy sound

There was discussion here:

Maybe also a closer reference since the that is in the Elektron realm. I don’t have an A4 to compare to though.

I was the most frequent poster in that thread.
I worked on Rhodes like sounds with DX7, Micromonsta 2 and Blofeld but I will have to start from scratch again with DN2…
