Its a quick and elegant way to achieve what you’ve described
im not sure I understand this?

If you set the trig mode to ‘preset pool’ then the 16 trig keys become the first 16 presets. That might be a quick way to sample lock my 16 samples.
EDIT: I’m going to explore that now …
EDIT 2: I don’t think trig mode -> preset pool is going to help making this quicker.
Not sure this would work, but if you would just start sampling from main outs, let it run, and go into the browser to preview samples trying to manualy hit each one at evenly spaced times? Would it work? Not at home to test at the moment but very interested.

Theoretically yes, if your timing is absolutely perfect. I think putting down sample-locked trigs on evenly spaced steps in the sequencer is the easiest and most hassle-free method. Furthermore, you can adjust each step with p-locks to fine-tune your new sample chain. So a bit more time for preparation is definitely worth it to have a more polished sample-chain in the end.
Bad idea IMO, as you would have to save each sample (+parameters) as a Preset beforehand.
What you can do is loading each of the 16 desired samples into each of the 16 tracks, set trig X for track X, and sample.
Better solution that uses one track only:
- have all your samples following each other in the RAM, which is relatively easy if you want to make a chain out of a whle sample folder: select all + load them to proj get them right after each other.
- set a RAMP LFO on sample slot: for an 8-sample chain I’d activate the 8 odd trigs, first trig plocked with MODE=TRIG, default MODE=HOLD. Other parameters would be SPD = 1, MULT=64 and DEPTH=8 I believe.
This way makes you sure you don’t have any overlap between samples. Adjust the tempo or plock AMP envelopes to get it right.
And this way you can make 64-sample chains

Yeah, I found out. I was misled by my tracks being identified as “preset n” somewhere but then discovered those presets were not in the pool. Presumably they were only stored in the pattern.
I will try what you suggest, thank you.
Meantime I have a project set up so track 1 is sample pool 1, with a trig on step 1, etc, tempo 30 bpm, fast release on amp page.
So all I need to do is load my samples as the first 16 samples in the project and I’m all set up to record the chain

Yes, Presets are all the tracks parameters + the source sample saved in the +Drive or in the Pool.
It’s external to the Patterns.
From what I’ve experimented, the hardest thing for my solution is to get the LFO parameters right.
But once someone drops the table here, no headache for setting this anymore ^^

I slogged through working it out for the m:s once. If I find myself translating that to the DT2 will post here. My m:s crib sheet was based on someone else’s work for the DT1 though … surely that’s still applicable ?

Fedex leaves packages outside in front of the door? That’s crazy.
Where i live the parcel services can give it to a neighbour but not just leave it somewhere outside for anyone to grab it.
I wish you good luck with this mess!
I guess so.
I’ve update my parameters to run with RAMP, which is more appropriate: it starts from the first sample you select, rise then fall back to the first sample, so you can spot the right values for the SPEED and DEPTH parameters more easily.

Uh…they aren’t supposed to operate that way. Even without sig, if no one is home, they are supposed to leave a “unable to deliver” card with location for pickup.

yeah I was shocked when I arrived home and it was just sitting at the door.
Were you able to obtain the serial number from Sweetwater? That should help keep it out of pawn shops / guitar center.

For those with both, how does the Octatrack MKII compare to Digitakt II?
Thanks.
There is a thread talking about this exact point somewhere ^^

If that would happen in the country I live you could sue fedex and demand a replacement from your retailer.
They get money to deliver and not for throwing it at a doormat.
This would not count as delivered, so contract is not fulfilled.
Like sayed - in my country. Don’t know where you live, and how much rights as customer you have.
I was and gave it to the police, hopefully it turns up
