Introducing Digitakt II

Not retrig related but notes that replace previous ones if there is overlap. I don’t like this behavior and would like notes overdub as on mpcs, Blackbox…

You can record retrigs without erasing notes with the 2nd TRIG page.

The fact that they renamed the LFO button to “Mod” kinda makes me think there are gonna be other modulation machines down the road. If we could get a key track or more full ADSR envelopes that would be cool.

Key tracking the BRR and SRR would be dope.

I’ll have a look, thanks. Still not ideal when trying to get some hats rolling.

man, a Heat style enveloper follower as a modulation source would tear that comb filter to SHREDS.

Question about installing old projects onto the Digitakt II … I know all the OG factory sounds are on the DT2, but when you bring old projects in, does it find those samples, even though they aren’t in the same directories, or do you need to bring in the OG stock sample folder as well, which would make you waste space with duplicates of those samples?

Yes, it works without any problems. The samples are automatically transferred with the project.

Thanks! Although this all seems moot since Transfer 1.8 crashes constantly when trying to backup my OG Digitakt. Wonderful.

I’d rather have it now than later obviously but I feel like this release needed a little more time in the oven, even the line ins are very quiet compared to the original, I get there’s more tracks to mix so absolute -0db isn’t necessary or advisable but if you want to play a synth along with it and some headphones it makes it near impossible to get to an acceptable level of volume. Combined with my retrig mode disappointment and the transfer “speed”, I’m already considering shelving it until the first major update. I’m sure they have a plan for this machine and there’s nothing like it but some things feel archaic while others feel like the future.

Am I missing something, or did they get rid of the handy zoom feature when trimming recordings?

Edit: I’m missing something. It’s moved to a double zoom knob with Func+ knob.

If you feel like using it a bit longer,

The makeup gain on the comp page should get you that extra volume even without engaging the comp.

Guess November will be a good time to buy then.

Was the same with ST release:

  • Initially 999 EUR,
  • then dropped to 799,
  • then went up again,
  • then 2 weeks or so promotion again (799)
  • and then up and stayed up.

And since the DT2 has less analog components and it looks like it is an instant bestseller/future classic, despite those wrinkles yet to be ironed out, lasting reduction in price may be not just an illusionary hope. And some will put it on the market after their 30 days test phase has expired. Those machines will still be covered by some kind of warranty and it is likely that the original owner was just too frustrated or swapped against something else new in the quest for the bestest sampler :wink:

Gotcha. Does make sense.

So is there anybody here who has tested the beta DTII overbridge? How was your experience? I’m interested in actually recording things for once

Closed beta applications only went out a couple of days ago.
