Putting DTII and ST together

Hi is it possible to preview samples while holding a trig and scrolling through the sample pool (aka sample lock)?

Feels like such a fundamental function…am I missing something?

This is the technique from the DT1 I guess ?

Were the two parallel song modes difficult to program? Honestly never occured to me to try that.

I also briefly tried it the other day and it seems to work good but I guess needs a bit of layout planning. Not tried in overbridge mode though.

The only annoyance is that the song pointer has to be always set manually to the same position on the other device when programming. Would be cool if song pointer would also be transmitted when synced

So I am loving the experience so far. The device is pretty addictive, even with all the different aspects that could and would be improved.

I am just wondering, is it just me or the FX are really quiet? Even with all volumes turned at max they feel in the background. Definetely not the same as the DT and DN, where they can completely overtake a sound. I’d like to have like 6db more on the FX, dunno if it’s a bug reporting or a feature request.

Add them in the compressor, if you want some more volume.
But yes indeed, might be a bug there…

Of course I can do that, but I use the compressor for sidechaining my bass and melodic elements with the kick. I don’t always want my FX to be sidechained.
What I am saying is, I am aware that I can mix and match, gain stage, compress, etc. etc but I still feel they are lower in volume in comparison with my other Elektrons (the difference with Digitone, in particular, is striking).

I agree. Got to test it further though.
Maybe do some video with meters while FX are the same level, and send it to Elektron support.

Interesting! I don’t use that much reverb and delay these days, but I also had the feeling it’s pretty quiet.

From AR iirc.

Someone mentioned, that now when the source is stereo, the fx are a bit lost in the stereo image, compared to dt1 when they were the only stereo element.

Good question.

Do you think that the low external input level also affects the FX returns??

I read somewhere that resampling was lower level than the original too.

Wonder if they are all tied together somewhere in the mixer routing

Fair point, but it’s more of a trick, that was a bit outside the scope of a simple answer.

Input levels are much lower compared to my Syntakt.

I noticed that as well, and it might actually be just that. I haven’t really compared or investigated

My input levels seem ok. I do appear to lose audio on some tracks though randomly without anything muted but will experiment further first incase user error
