Innerclock syngen2 - can you use headphone out

i know a lot of you guys are using an innerclock syncgen

im currently waiting on one… in the meantime im planning if i have enough outputs on my audio interface (rme ufx) to do what i want with inputs + fx loops etc.

is anyone using a headphone out signal to drive the innerclock? seems like a waste of a line level signal otherwise.

It requires two separate outputs…so in theory you could use a TRS jack to a stereo out…

I used one with the apogee duet 2 headphone output. It worked fine for me.

Pretty sure headphones isn’t considered extra outputs as they are fed from existing sources, no?

In the case of the rme with totalmix any source can be routed to two stereo headphone outputs… So sync gen software would go to say left headphone for sync and right for transport. Definitely possible with the totalmix routing. So yeah I meant I gained extra outputs in the sense I had been reserving two line level outs for the innerclock, that can now go to something more fun like A4 input.

hmm. must be different than the multiface II, or I’m not 10o% getting how you are using your setup. In my case I have 8 analogue outputs, +8 outputs via ADAT interface + 2 SPDIF. Regardless of where I am assigning my headphones from it is still a duplicate signal from my assignable outputs, but you actually did just make me realize I could use my SPDIF outputs via headphone jack which might be useful sometime…

Anyways, as far as I understand it shouldn’t be a problem. The Sync Gen VST has an internal gain control for the clock pulse signal, as well as you should be able to control the gain of its output after the VST or in the totalmix panel so it shouldn’t be any problem getting it setup right for use through a headphone output.

Yeah with the ufx, software output and hardware output are independent and can be routed mixed wherever…it’s the business!
