Individual Outs

On the subject of individual outs are these mono or stereo.
I am guessing 4 x mono, is this correct?
Can the stereo outs be used as well as the indivudal outs simultanesouly ie
2 stereo and 4 mono (assuming the 4 are mono) or is it one set or the other only?

Yes the outs are mono and you should be able to use the stereo outs at the same time.
Also it was mentioned regarding Overbridge that over USB you will get an extra effects only track which I imagine you can layer over any or all of the mono tracks.

Thanks for the clarification. I’ll wait for the overbridge and make do with what I have for the time being. Still learning how to use the unit.

If I’m not mistaken, aren’t they stereo plugs simply for space savings? So what would be the left channel is one mono part and what would be right channel is the next mono part? Saying they are stereo outs might be a bit misleading though technically correct hardware wise.

how is stereo defined ? one left and one right channel
only 3 wires needed for it. one ground, one for left and one for right. so splitcables are ok. btw tried them yesterday ago as well and they work fine.

It’s the output for one voice mono or poly. But that voice can contain panning information. So it is a stereo output. The insert cables have TRS on one end and 2 TS jacks on the other end. The sleeve carries the common ground for each channel and the tip and ring carry the left and right channels.

Sorry I just pulled my head out of my ass and realized I was thinking of the Analog Rtym, that one has the stereo outs that output different mono sounds on each side.

sry for bumping this.
I bought an AK and it will arrive to me the next week; regarding the individual outs, for recording their audio signal what cable have I to use? A TRS cable plugged into one in of the Rme Fireface 802 or a TRS Y cable with two TS jacks plugged into two ins?
So do I need to use 4 or 8 ins?

if you want all 4 indiviual outs in sterio you use 4 Y-Cables means 8 ins you will need

It’s fixed. The FX can only be output on the main outputs.

Well, having only 12 inputs on my Soundcraft Signature 12… If I use mono to mono screened jack leads: Will I suffer any loss in quality? My first test seemed fine. Sounds like you’re attempting to preserve a balanced signal by using an xlr. Bear in mind the trs plug is meant to carry a stereo signal rather than balanced audio. You’ll miss out on either the left or right audio if you use a mono cable or a trs cable to a mono input.

Thanks Analogic. I will put the pan into the track on the mixer. But I don’t want to degrade the signal with the Mono cable I’m using currently. And I guess TRS into XLR on a mono channel is not so logical!

that doesn’t make any sense to me
firstly TRS doesn’t exclusively imply stereo - it’s just 3 connections

to answer the first OP question - it will definitely be fine, especially if the cables aren’t long
.
next, the elektrons aren’t full-fat balanced, they’re balanced ‘compatible’, so the difference between scenario 1 & 2 is less defined - in either case most gear will be more than capable of adapting to the insertion of a TS cable if it can take a balanced TRS

it also strikes me there’s a lot of dubious info earlier in this thread regarding teh individual outs - afaik, the individual outs are very much mono, as per OB

Multiouts in Overbridge via USB.

So we have multi outs which are selectable in cubase 8.5 now on windows.

How do you assign a track/sound to an individual out.

I have 4 individual outs setup and ready to go in overbridge unable to see where I can assign each track to an individual out?

Is it possible, any help please?
