Let me know they are

I have neumann kh120 but i was looking into these as portable choice

How are these?? Thinking to get the mtms

Just reviving this old thread to say, as well as being the only monitors I own for making music on, these speakers (if you get the wee bag) are great for taking music on holiday. With the bluetooth, and the switcable EQ profiles, they’re astoundlingly good for listening to music if you are priviledged enough to get away for a break.

Sorry for bumping, but I wanted to share my opinion on these:
Got them from pretty cheap via eBay auction. What I like the most: I can listen to music really, really quiet - since I can have them quite close to me. Also, they’re super portable and safe to carry around. They can get pretty loud, although at a certain point the distortion is quite noticeable.
Worth noting that I don’t have a treated room besides a big bass-trap behind me.
I think you could do decent mixes with these and a pair of good headphones - but when I plugged my Yamaha HS80 back on after a few days of testing these, the change was quite overwhelming (and I’m not talking about volume or low end, just an overall presence and frequency response).
I’m not an expert though, I can mainly comment on feel - and I know the comparison is not fair. Still, these are pretty great and I’m definitely keeping them (I’m hoping to move my studio/office outside my apartment so the iLoud would stay at home for music/movies/jams, etc.)
I’m very curious about the iLoud MTM’s though - they were outside of my budget, but I really liked the experience of having monitors very close, at low volume… and it seems like those are much better.

UPDATE: I’ve been playing around with the monitor’s height with my hands, and I like their sound a lot more when holding them at ear level in the air - the low-mid, which sounded a bit weird for me, feels better this way (instead of how I’ve had them up until now: switch turned to “Desk”, and the little legs on the bottom opened up). The stereo image seems to be much better as well. So I ordered some cheap desk mic stands, I’ll have them in a few days.
Curious to know if anyone else is using them with stands?

Agreed. Mine sound way better up here than on the desk:

Also even though they are front-ported, proximity to the back wall is a big factor as well (could just be my untreated room however)…

Does anyone have any good suggestions for raising these on a small desk, perhaps using the screw hole at the bottom? I have these Thomann Roadworx stands that are tall enough to block the monitors when placed on the same tiny desk. Thanks!

Are you looking for a free solution?

Having just moved across the ocean, I doubt I have much on hand that actually screws into the bottom of these, but I’m always up for saving money. I had anticipated a modest cost.

These have worked well for me for both (!) pairs that I have.

Thanks, I’m not sure I can get those exact ones, but it gives me a sense of what to look for!

The size if the screw is the most annoying part to figure out…

If only there was a manual or something…

Anyone know if it would be a bad idea to run these as just a single speaker - just the amped one alone?

I have a pair but have a situation where I’d like to use just one and not have to find space for the other and that chunky cable

If you make music in mono (i.e. not stereo), I don’t see why you couldn’t just run with one.

I just added a Cambridge Audio Minx X201 to my iLoud Micros:

The sound is really quite good, and just silly compact. If you’re looking for a high-quality 2.1 system, space is an issue, and you’re willing to pay a little more than the average consumer desktop system, then I recommend that you check out this combination.

Anyone got the Pros?

I’m finding an annoying ‘zipping’ sound on the decay of bass sounds on the Pros.

It’s not there on my regular Micros

It’s almost identical on both speakers & as each has its own amp it makes it seem likely to be a general problem with these. Anyone noticed it?

Have tried all settings and both inputs, different volume levels - always there
