Idea for a Mini PC or Mac Book Mini as a Rompler/ Workstation

Mac and iPad use the same CPU

If so then the Mac Mini may not be powerful enough. I would have to look into that.

Mac Mini M4 is a beast as is the M4 iPad Pro… or any other M equiped Macs/iPads actually, more than enough for most musical endeavours.

What I seem to understand from your posts: you require a very portable machine to use as a sound module for all your purchased VSTs, among them Kontakt Instruments. Judging from your replies I guess you are not very technical (not meant as an insult). That narrows down your options to either a Mac or Windows machine. While you could DIY a frankenstein with a mac mini or another mini PC to make it somewhat portable, I do not recommend doing that (and I like tinkering myself).

Then, considering you want it to be a sound module and “a daw to edit about 4 tracks”, you do not need a lot of power. Even a Celeron or N100 Intel chips will run that easily. Check this one out:

I remember the first or 2nd gen MS Surface tablets, but eventually they became quite expensive.
I was thinking regularly about mini PC as well (and also got big mini PC instead of a laptop, which became insanely expensive today).
One possible concern: built-in sound card, they seem not to improve much over the years

Looks a cool device but no plugins i have will stand a chance. No im not doing any tinkering. Just a Mini PC with a mini screen. Either built in like the GDP or a 7 inch cheapo screen from Ali Express. Just need to install the software. I’m just wondering if anybody else has done this?

If you wear headphones, doesnt that bypass the soundcard limitations?

What about a Surface Pro? I use it with an Ableton Move as a really portable Ableton setup.
