ID-ing midi cc in octatrack

Hello friends, I’m attempting to send velocity into my mutant brain midi>cv converter eurorack module and can’t seem to figure out what the midi-cc is coming from the octatrack for velocity. I’m unclear if I need to assign it in the midi ctrl setup page or if it already has a cc assigned. I’ve scoured the manual but can’t figure it out.

Been a while since I owned an Octatrack…

I can tell you that velocity is unrelated to MIDI CC’s.

Its instead included as part of a Note-On message.

Thank you for responding. But it is its own unique parameter, correct? And if so, how is that parameter conveyed? I’m trying to zero in on what/where it is (in MIDI language land) and then assign it in the mutant brain.

Its part of a Note-On message.

A Note-On message will have a MIDI channel, a Note Number (determines the note), and a Velocity amount (generally set by how hard you hit a key etc).

Velocity can’t be sent on its own. It’s part of a note-on message!

So the Octatrack would have to send a note for that to happen!

I just wanted to make a note of how funny this sounded before I read the whole sentence:

And regarding the question about velocity: with the MIDI sequencer, all notes are sent with a default velocity (100, I believe) unless you change the velocity value. It can be parameter-locked per step
