I resigned and told my CEO boss and HR to F themselves before walking out

this is out of character for you, I know you had good reason!!

Are there more parables in he genre of the Skyline GTR. I really hope the answer is ‘yes’

With such talent, you could be looking for another company.
Or offer to work as an external consultant with your own conditions. I’d bet you could ask more than twice what you’re payed right now.

You’re awesome, thank you for your example. More of us (at the very least me) need to stand up to crap management and leadership.
Thank you!

The most important thing to know about interviews is that they go both ways.

Good hiring managers understand this and will give candidates additional credit for interviewing the interviewers. If they complain then consider yourself lucky, you shouldn’t work there anyway.

Every time I’ve left a company I’ve stepped into a better role soon after.

Lucky also helps: I was an antisocial teenager who went really deep on internet technology right before the internet blew up. IDK what to tell people in 2024 other than to not work for people that you don’t respect.

Which expression did they have in their faces?

Maybe you would like to watch now a french comedy with lots of black humor about a shitty CEO, who fools his employees and they collect some money to hire a contract killer?

Did you feel 10 get tall as you walked out, having told them to F themselves?

Hope so, and I hope that feeling sticks with you for as long as you need it to! :muscle:

Thank you! All the things you’ve heard are not only true, but probably massively understating it.

Is AI part of the reason that market is messed up? My brother in law worked doing graphics for MAX and Netflix for years. He was let go in October and can’t find anything. It seems like AI is making things very very difficult for people looking for work in creative fields.

I really really really hope one day you feel appreciated. That car post I made a few posts up is dedicated to you. I learned a long time ago to work hard for the clients, and not exert one iota of energy more than that. We’re all replaceable, companies don’t care about us, and the ones that work the hardest are rewarded with more work and the feeling that they’re not needed (usually cause they’re doing so well so things feel smooth!)

Hell is other people, I’ve been told.

Absolutely.

I used to think I lacked all self preservation because I speak out so much and don’t accept bullshit from management. A friend reframed it for me and said “I think speaking out IS your self preservation” and that changed how I felt about it ever since.

A mix of blank, and the CEO just gave a couple of smug closed mouth smiles. When I got up and turned and walked out saying go fuck yourselves, I’d like to think they were clutching their pearls.

I did, and do! But I’m also sad- all these places could be so great with just a few tweaks and a willingness to listen to their employees.

My only regret in all of this is not pulling a Jerry Maguire (or Michael Scott) and saying who would have left with me.

The secret power move is to hand in your resignation with a smile. When they ask why you are leaving, you tell them that you loved everything about the company / group, but need to spend more time with your family/synths/whatever.

The reason it is a power move is that if they really are assholes, they don’t deserve to know how f’d up they are. Let them scratch their head as they circle the toilet.
