I am not absolutely sure, but I guess, Samsung could be on par with Apple.
What did you finally get ? I am interested in the Zen Book aswell, i wonder if 8 gbyte is enough. Or if 16 is recommended /must have for Abelton.
Lenovo carbon x1 6th gen… best ever
I went for an HP Omen Gaming Laptop - it has 16 Gbyte RAM, and a Thunderbolt 3 port, which was essential for me - as i will move in the future to a Thunderbolt Audio Interface. I double checked my RAM usage, and with Abelton 16 tracks, and web browser open, 8 Gbyte is not much.
The laptop is currently around 1400 €. It seems that Nvidia Optimus is currently not supported, which makes it dependend on a Gforce GTX 1060, one cant switch to Intel Graphics because HP messes up the Bios in the machine. I will report if i am pleased with the machine stability wise, and form the fan perspective. Not too much a fan of the aesthetics, but i wanted a powerfull 6 core machine - so with my budget the choice was limited.
congrats on your decision which is always the difficult part… hope it serves you well :)…
That is true, i saw comments from guys who did ponder their deciscion for 1 month. I took a week, so - you dont know anyways today - it could be good or quality control isnt that optimal on their builds.
Usually HP got a tight QC, we delivered once an Omen to a customer, was a solid device…
I have read the HP Forum before, there wasnt much complaint for it - the only thing seems that the bios does not allow the Intel graphic - but the 960 is efficiency monster from what i read - so i may just turn down the clock speed , or use maximum power saving when not connected to power. I know speedstep is bad for audio - but i dont know if one can set fixed frequency ?
