I left on my Digitakt for too long, did I ruin the screen/LEDs?

I’ve had it for about a month and been using it as an interface for the past 3 weeks for maybe 4-8 hours a day. After a while obviously the screen goes to sleep, but I was wondering how bad this is, since I cannot get an interface any time soon.

I have 3 questions on top of that because I don’t know it well so I forgot if this was originally how it was now that I’m paying attention.

  1. For the sample editor, is the horizontal center line of pixels supposed to be a bit darker than say the Kick or clap? It is perfectly in the middle im wondering if I maybe burnt some OLED bulbs or something.

  2. By default, the white lights aren’t really that bright unless theyre used right? Obviously the direct/stop button is super bright but what about the rest?

  3. Whether default white, green, red, or purple, when I look super close to the trigs, the top of the number is slightly darker. Surely that is just the button from under or something? Because for example the number 1 and 8 is super easy to see.

Thanks for the help

Someone basically told me I can burn the screen super easily and make it look like blurry/LCD leaking over into next pixels and I’ve been paranoid ever since.

That doesn’t sound like a substantial time to ruin the screen. Also, when OLED burns out, it’s like getting subtle dark ghosts of previous content, not blurry.

  1. It’s normal to have certain lines of the screen be darker. Does the dark line shift on different screens, eg when you scroll through the sample list?

  2. Don’t worry about the white lights, they’re LEDs like ones used in professional keyboards, and they normally last for ages.

  3. Yes, the darker part is normal due to key construction.

Enjoy your Digitakt!

Ok perfect that helps me a lot. I was really hoping to use this as an interface and in my production rig and I produce sometimes over 8 hours so I didn’t know but I assume most people use it like that anyway. And true, the macbook keyboards last forever.
