Hello to all the community !
I am Elian, a PArisian in retraining, (from plumbing to electronic music Project… there is always a pipe story…)
I come here because I have to start here one day, and it’s for a problem!
I ordered a superb Digitakt II from Music Store, very well packaged but I had my first doubts about the aesthetics although they were barely visible, then about the Main volume button which had a lot of looseness.
For aesthetics here is a photo where I see 4 reliefs around the screen… for Elektron aficionados… is this normal?
I found the Digitakt packaged in the box with a plastic bag but opened… I found it strange, the label on the box was rubbish so obviously no one opened this box… And I’ll also give you an image of how the main volume button moves (and also the Level/Data below.
Thank you for your wise insights and kind window!
I hope I’m in the right place. obviously made a request to the distributors but here I think that those who know me will be able to answer me quickly.
Thanks again !
From Paris with Love (And a digitakt !now)
(Sorry i Can’t upload a video of the looseness of the two button (Main volume and Level/Data) Because I’m a rookie here !

I had a very loose volume button. I prepared a video and made a ticket at elektron support. They confirmed this was not normal. I then created a ticket my vendor, they sent it in and it got replaced. The new unit is fine.
Thx @orionka !
Knowing the seriousness of elektron, I said to myself that it was strange… On your Digitakt II too?
I have not yet received any feedback from Elektron regarding my request.
thank you for your response, it’s already reassuring even if I feel that I will have to do without the digitakt during the time it takes to return the goods!
Have you contacted the store you bought it from to tell them the unit is B-Stock / Second hand?
Happened with mine, found previous projects in memory when it should have been just Presets. New unit on its way to me from the reseller (not Elektron).
I must say the buttons and dials all felt very solid on mine, no wobble at all.
happens on new units aswell. I ordered at day 1.
Thank you for your response, I already had experience with a Medusa from Polyend, where all the buttons cracked, I later found out that it was a test copy in the store…
For my digitakt, the plastic protection of the digitakt screen is not free from scratches, usually you can barely see this protective film, this makes me think that Being united may have undergone a slight trauma…
But I bought it new!
Music store replied to me saying that they were finding out…
I hope I won’t be in the machine for too long.
I will give you some feedback, it may always be of use to others.
Thanks again !
Sounds like a pre-owned unit, hopefully the store can organise a replacement for you quickly.
Just had an email saying my new one arrives tomorrow.
All of this is totallynormal. It’s the luck of the draw, really. Sometimes theknobs are gritty/grainy (but go away eventually) . Sometimes the knobs have a bit of wiggle. Most of the time the plastic screen protectors have tons of scratches like they were brushed up against something, don’t know why…
Most of the times the boxes eventually develop a wobble at the feet… just the reality of the final product. Use your Digitakt 2 enough and you won’t care about any of those small things anymore; you’ll care about the music you create.
I have this same issue, and also few bumps in the frame (don’t know if I’m the only one having them)
For the volume knob loosiness, I don’t know if I should send it back, if it doesn’t risk to become worse I’d just keep it.
Hello @blasterjake,
Thank you for your opinion and your feedback.
In my opinion, this is not normal, considering the cost of things today (and the reputation of the brand for building war tanks )
I want to spend as much time as possible with equipment that will not abandon me for long and tumultuous after-sales services.
Furthermore, this type of problem is like a parasite in my creative process, every time I touch this potentiometer, I don’t want to think that this part of the machine will fail me.
I assure you that I concentrate on it, but to stay focused, I must not be distracted by a material problem, we all have a different relationship with material.
So this is not normal for me.
Thxx !
Effectively !
For me, any looseness or lag increases over time, I won’t take the risk, especially if it happens outside the warranty period.
It’s frustrating to see it leave, but it will be more fun afterwards!
So i’m waiting for the resellers
Thx !
Thx @MrZardoz
This is also my feeling, I am waiting for a response from the reseller, Elektron still does not answer me but I understood that there was a big queue.
Have a good day !
this issue not only on the DT, I also have it in the Digitone and the Syntakt, LOL
And what does Elektron say about it?
I have similar behavior in my top-left, Main Volume knob / pot but not quite as noticeable as what you show in the video. I haven’t pulled the knob off but it feels like it’s not the pot itself rather the plastic knob isn’t as tight as I’d like it to be. I hadn’t noticed until I read your post.
When I turn it, the pot feels solid and smooth with just the right amount of resistance - same I get from the other nine on the machine. I don’t feel I’ve used the Main Volume knob any more than the others and I know the box hasn’t suffered any knocks or disruption otherwise. When I received the unit it was well-packed and zero indication of shipping mistreatment.
In my case, I’m not terribly concerned yet but will note and pay attention to see if it progresses to more wobbly.
-The original plastic film screen protector is still in place and looks good.
The tag on the bottom reads: MFGDT: 2024-W17
Just wish to mention what I’m noticing on my own DTII machine and hope it helps. Maybe with hand-on five hours tops.
Thank you
I used my DTII barely 2 hours after unpacking, and the looseness
What I felt is quite important since it was while turning the main volume that I felt this problem.
I removed the encoder button and realized that it was really the rod that was affected and not the button itself.
Thank you for your testimony.
I know that, for some, this does not mean much, and that the subject is perhaps not important, but it can also make it possible to provide information to manufacturers, so that quality control is more demanding.
