Hydrasynth from ASM

Just when I promised myself that the M8 would be my only purchase this year!

Well the good news - it’s a trademark, it could be years away from release, if ever!

It better take a while, I just got the hydra keys.

I’m super curious of course but have no grounds for speculation. I’d love to see focus on physical modeling, granular sampling and a good sequencer.

The owner Glen Darcey said this over on facebook page on the link I posted about it lol.

“The synth community rumor mill is pretty funny. We registered a couple of names we thought we might use on future things . Of course the internet being the internet, nothing turns into something and then the feedback loop grows.”

So I’m taking this as a yes

My post on the facebook group got locked… So I’m going to say yes it’s coming  lol, nah kidding, it got locked because it wasn’t “hydrasynth” related but still… It’s possible!

What about here  ?

Wondering about anything new for the Hydrasynth at NAMM in a week and a half ? They had the two Silver Editions and the Explorer 888 recently.

Maybe some more of that sort of action ?

There have always been multiple ways to do sequencing on the HS ( talked about here and in the Tips and Tricks thread ). They just may not be the ways you are used to or are accustom to.

The architecture of this synth isn’t by accident or the result of a short-coming, but is by design.

PLUS there is no difficulty with using an external sequencer, of whatever flavor, any time, if you choose that.

Yeah, I know all that. The onboard isn’t a sequencer though, its a workaround.

Its not a big deal, compared to the other criticisms like aliasing for example. I’ve had one, its great. I’m not knocking it.

You and i have different Hydrasynths.

Am interested in what they may come up with beyond the four so far.

Not sure if the FM routing has been posted but I snagged it from a sonic state interview.

Good to have it posted again.

It is good to add ( a cleaned up ) version of this to your own manual.

To be noted is the addition of the independent sine or triangle input beyond the oscillator and mutant inputs. Also using Mod 1 and Mod 2 inputs ( not available on the Explorer ) gives a good opportunity to make FM with other external audio.

If ASM ever did modular Eurorack – a monophonic version of their FM ( with or without the other Mutant functions and Osc 3 ) including external audio inputs and the 219 waves on Osc 1 & 2, even without the wavetables, would be grand.

Hydrasynth … is it physmod, comb, granular, shimmer, glitch … or just Mutants?

No effects except a bit Hydra’s internal reverb and chorus for stereo widening.

Edit - Longer:

I mostly create glitchy pads when i’m programming patches on the Hydrasynth. I don’t know why, it just happens.
Here i’m using 2 sets of wavescans and some sample & hold lfo’s to add some movement.

Is there a way to access patches/banks that people post to the hydrasynth facebook group without being on facebook? I don’t want to join, but I’ve seen a few references to the group as a place where people (including flux) post cool stuff and I’d love to see what’s there.

Never Facebook here as well. Apparently there are hacks, or people get throw away fake e-mail accounts to get access. I just write it all off, and don’t bother. I live my way, no FOMO for me.

Found a web based patch editor for Hydrasynth. I have not tested it myself yet, but looks nice.
