Hydrasynth from ASM

I‘m actually on the silly quest to make a patch that enables „modular techno impro“ on just a Hydrasynth Desktop. Above were some examples, here‘s a new patch, this is the beginning state:

and this was later after improvising with it:

Once again I was too dumb to record the performance. Grrr!
OSC 1 = noises and bass, OSC 2 = bassline/lead, OSC 3 = kick.
In all cases, one latched note (no arp, no sequencer).

Lfos ?

also yes, why shouldn‘t I use LFOs

With arp I used keytrack assigned to hipass filter frequency and noise.
Principle :
Low notes = kick
Middle notes = snare
High notes = hihats

I didn’t try again, inspiring, thanks.

Anyone knows HS actual cutoff resolution? Someone says 1280, I’d rather say 16384 because of NRPN resolution (128X128)…

The run will be quite limited, with prices slightly higher than regular. They are expected to ship in June.

Are the doing an E(2)5 drive! Then there will be a Hydrasynth II soon

Elektron E25 owners will be happy…
(Edit : @Bignill, same thought !)

You’ve got to do something to keep up with Arturia and Korg with the specials and limiteds.

Look at that helicopter landing pad on the Deluxe with the shelf attached.

That giant LOGO says it, if one goes in for Limited Edition stuff.

Starting to consider the purchase of either the Explorer or the Desktop version. Should I be wary of issues/bugs on this? Is soft coating used for any of the buttons?

Weird. For some reason the Deluxe looks good to me in the silver, but the 49-key doesn’t. I have no idea why just being a bit longer has anything to do with the color looking good, but…

I didn’t seem to have low end issues with my Hydras. I did always use the low-frequency-compensated filter models, Low Pass Gate, etc. though and I almost always layer a sub-octave (or sub-two-octave) sine wave on any bass sound that I want to really come through. So maybe it’s just in how I was using it. It seemed to have a very full bodied sound from top to bottom (other than a few of the digital waveforms that just didn’t have the harmonic setup for it. I also tend to just adjust everything across the entire setup by feel while I’m working though, so I could have autonomously boosted lows or something without thinking about it while working on something. It just always felt like a beefy sort of sound to me though. That said, my OB-6 is trying to take the plaster off the walls in my 100 year old house on occasion.

Not especially. Be aware of the features removed from these relative the other two. Also be aware of the standard stuff that catch comment, like no sequencer, and that sort of thing.

The lack of bass or the digital sound thing i think have been pretty well dispelled.

I remember early on a comment that sound design was slow and that the mod-matrix being inscrutable, both things i think have pretty much been forgotten.

I think claims on the choices of filters being deficient in some way has faded too.

By the way no sequencer is no problem for me.

No synth is perfect for everyone.

Explorer has soft buttons, the buttons on the others are a harder plastic.

It’s one of the fastest useable synths, another reason I love it so much. Even Macros can be done really fast, even while that thing is playing …

It’s the only synth that I’ve ever bothered programming macros for because of how good the interface is.

On the Desktop, be sure to verify the feel and quality of the pads. On mine, pressure was accompanied by stickiness and an annoying sound -> not agreeable. I realised that I did not like the feel of the pads at all. Eventually, I sold it because I had doubts about its longer term reliability: there are so many lights and screens on this synth and the are an integral part of the fast programmability.
