Hydrasynth from ASM

Just want to salute @Jukka and say thanks for always sharing your knowledge, methods, and insights on the Hydra. Much appreciated. If I ever understand it even 1/2 as well as you do, I’ll be pretty stoked. Until then… the experimenting continues, and the beeps keep goin.

FWIW’s the few stores with preorder listings for both the Deluxe and Explorer have them listed as shipping between Nov 14 and Nov 25.

No you don’t

Good in the video:

At around 11:00 Nick shows how in Multi-mode you can continue to play one side without interruption and change the patch playing on the other. He says that he couldn’t find a way to change one side at a time via MIDI PC though – i wonder if this is the last word on that ?

ADDED: Someone should tell Nick to use Browse Favorites in Multi-mode for changing patches. There is a section of the manual specifically on that starting on page 29.

Obviously two HSKs together have no problem with a MIDI PC applied to one at a time.

Immediately after that at 12:00 Nick plays two different arpeggiators together at the same time in Multi-mode. The performance possibilities of this is immediately apparent, especially with the use of the Hydrasynth’s extended arpeggiator sequences.

Two HSKs can do this too. ( You see me debating with myself the pros and cons of two HSKs vs one HSLX. )

HS-Deluxe with HS-Desktop on the shelf-end.

That’s right J3RK, you sold your HSK didn’t you ?

The two new HSs have really shaken things up.

The Explorer is only $200 cheaper than the HSD, but a big 25% less, and many people ( not all ) will see it as a better match for their needs. Close to an impulse buy price for many, so I’d expect a lot of new buyers.

Anyone else making changes ?

No….love mine. But it may need a desktop to go with.

Indeed! Just waiting for availability on the Deluxe. I’m in synth building mode right now, so it’s the perfect time to be between Hydras. I’m planning to stick an M on the end (if it fits).

Hey Jukka,

as i`m a HSD user since a while i come back to this thread regularly. Excuse a personal question, but as you are very informed and also enthusiastic about the Hydra, here and in some other threads, i wonder if you are in any kind affiliated with ASM? In some of our posts one could interpret some market research for ASM/userbase scanning? You mind telling something about this ? (idk if this came up before)

These new versions have only reassured me that I made the right choice with the HS KB.
Goldilocks zone, for my needs. Not too big, not too small.
I like having full sized keys but also the additional env and lfo dedicated controls that I tend to reach for while the screen is just about always on a different page of parameters.

Bitimbral would be fun, but this is a studio board for me so I don’t mind multitracking the single instrument. If I did feel inclined to add another 8+ voices, I think it would better to do so with a Peak, or Rev2 module. For the variety.
