How to use the slider to fade cue level dry/wet as an aux on Octatrack

A bit of an offshoot of the OT Feature Requests thread. One of the things I and some others wanted to do was to control the cue level with the slider.

TLDR - You also need a Zoia Euroboros to do this.

Cheating ! :content:
I also used ZOIA this way (CC48 back to OT) and you can even set min / max make midi scenes …

Also possible with many midi processors.

The crossfader CC48 midi channel corresponds to lowest audio track channel, non shared with a midi track channel. No CC48 sent if audio tracks channels are all off or shared.

So you don’t lower track Levels with crosfader XLVL ? Just CUE send ?
If so it is possible as I said (invert MAIN and CUE roles / connections) and use XLVL as cue send…

Such a simple solution, but took me forever to notice I can just use cue as my main out and use XLVL :grimacing:

If you look at this (beautiful) diagram, it should work.

Master fx track can be used as a master cue fx…:eyes:
Unfortunately Master track can’t be sent to cue (possible to record T8 and send to cue, but you loose a track).

Ha! Yes, I had to cheat :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

I did end up leaving that part out. I am fading out the dry signal from the A → B scene with XLV

The crossfader CC48 midi channel corresponds to lowest audio track channel, non shared with a midi track channel. No CC48 sent if audio tracks channels are all of or shared.

Not sure what you are trying to say here?

I am not trying to say something. That’s the way it is. (Sorry for of/off typo).

YOU are trying to understand it…:content:

This is not in the manual.
I understood it using a midi monitor.

In MIDI > CHANNELS you can see audio tracks channels. 1-8 by default

CC48 is sent on the lowest channel. If channels are 9-16, it will be channel 9.*

BUT, if you set a midi track to channel 9, it disables audio track with channel 9 midi out. CC48 Channel become 10.**

A bit more clear?

*This lowest channel thing is common to the Sync Page Auto setting, which is NOT Auto Channel ! With Octatrack manual words :

CHANNEL sets which channel the Octatrack MKII should send program change messages on. The LEVEL knob is used to change this setting. If AUTO is chosen the first MIDI channel used by the audio tracks, and not used by any of the MIDI tracks, will be used. If CHANNEL is set to a specific MIDI channel, that channel will be used to transmit program change messages.

**This is also important to know and can help with wtf no midi out moments:

If an audio track and a MIDI track share the same MIDI channel, the MIDI track will block the audio track from sending out data while the audio track will block the MIDI track from receiving data

Ok so you really want 100% wet fx return only, I can’t see any way to control cue send and xlvl with crossfader without midi trickery.
If you plock VOL, it affects cue and main.

(Unless you double each track, eventually with Neighbors for each track…

Yes I am trying to understand it!

I think I get what you are saying with this clarification. Thank you!
