How to send clock to the SH-101

Hello Fellow Elekronauts.

I’ve been having much fun driving my SH-101 via my A4. However, I wanted to try out using the internal sequencer of the SH and have it step forward each time a TRIG was hit on the CV track of the A4. Unfortunately, I’ve had no luck until now, and I tried a few different things.

Would it be possible? from my understanding, the SH-101 steps forward each time a CV is received in the External Clock slot. My idea is to create polyrythmic melodies with it, by sending both note and clock fomr the A4. Somehow it’s inspired by some of the options available in modular rigs.

I was hoping someone could help me understand the CV outs a bit better

you could send it a short percussive sound, like 909 rim shot

You can send it a trigger from CV-C for example. Make sure the trigger voltage is fairly high (8V or so). Then you could go on to souce trigger CV-C from the FX track.

would the rim of a MachineDrum work?

The SH-101 needs at least +5v to trigger.
Try increasing the voltage in the CV settings for the output you’re using (A/B, C/D). Also, mess with the length. The trigger may be too short.

Oh, and be sure to check which physical output you’re actually using. You might have one of the pairs inadvertently patched.

GND-IMP on the MD will definitely work. You may have to mess with the values. All of these methods have worked for me and my modular/vintage gear.
