Hello together,
as much as I love how easy it is to create samples on the fly that are in tune and sync with a sequence I am always looking for ways for stuff that is further “out there”. My major “problem” is that I haven’t come up with a way yet to sample spontaneously totally out of sync with the pattern I am playing to.
Here is an example what I am aiming for: Let’s say I have a one bar pattern in 4/4. Now I hit record for a random length of time to record my voice, and as soon as I let go the record button I would like to have the sample playing back for the non predetermined length of the new recording. So a great thing would be if the OT recognizes how many steps in fact the recording endured (maybe an odd number like 19 steps) and auto create via advanced pattern mode the according pattern.
Any idea how one could get there? All recommendations are highly welcomed!
Oh thanks, forgot about the plays free mode!
Yet it would be great if the recorded material in “plays free” mode could playback automatically when the recording is finished.
I hear you. That’s when midi scripting comes in handy, e.g. Using Lemur
Yeah,
right now I’m using a midi foot controller for this. I was trying to program it in a way that pushing down and holding the button records and letting go sends the trigger. but I had to assign an extra button for triggering.
By the way, if you are really familiar with the play free mode: The workaround described in the manual for stopping a free playing sample without stopping the sequencer doesn’t work here. I thought the mode should be one2. But no success here. Also the hold mode doesn’t work. I don’t know what other setting could prevent the modes from working in the “plays free” mode…
If my memory serves me i seem to recall having no problem getting the outta-phase recordings done and looping via midi, but there was no midi setting for stopping a track (equiv. to Track+Stop) a i remember thinking i’d put in a request, because there are a few unused possibilities. Can’t recall what the manual documented workaround would be, it’s a pity to not be able to do a simple action like this via midi
